Does anybody else here really enjoy the game of CHESS? It's like a civilized way of completely beating your opponent into submission... Establishing the total dominance of your brain over another.

I enjoy it, but to lose makes me feel like a brainlet.

no because most people never play it and it sucks to beat them all the time

Isn't the white king supposed to be on the right?

reeeee you're fucking right

too bad everyone here is a brainlet and cannot play very well

Except chess isn't a battle of intelligence.

chess is comfy but i only play it against the computer. i hate the competitive nature of humans

Queen on her color is the way I remember.

chess is a shitty old game thats mostly memory desu, memorizing openings and how to beat them, memorizing board positions etc. most pro chess players have some kind of savant level memory; can remember every chess game they played or similar. so even though its used in fiction as the quintessential 'smart person' pasttime.
not to say that they aren't smart, but its the whole 'im smart i play chess whee' thing is overdone af.

reddit the game

...which ends with white king on the right.
Same thing, different words.

I prefer fighting games.

I love chess!!! I play with the crazy old folk who hang out at the 24hr coffeeshop at midnight.

I agree in the sense that chess is overdone as a smart person game. You can be a dumbass and play at the expert level, if you put the time in.

But I disagree that it is mostly memorization, there are more possible chess games than there are atoms in the observable universe. There is a lot of creativity that goes into the problem solving. A good player must be innovative. Ideas occur that they may have never seen before. Even at the top level, the game is just too massive, to have seen everything.

i prefer checkers more

I played Chess for 12 hours a day for an entire month. I felt like I was going crazy to be honest, I have no idea how the World Champions do it.

I prefer a more intellectual game, not some shit for simpletons like checkers and chess

Too big-brained for me.
Come play Onitama.

It's just a memorization device, I wasn't countering you.
