My cat does this on the regular, but not necessarily with vomit. She tries to bury anything on the ground, like dropped bits of food. She also regularly misses the litter box. I think she's retarded.

He is observing your routine and any objects that might be put in your path causing you to fall and suffer a concussion severe enough that you can't defend yourself.
