All of humanity is on a 24/7 dopamine drip and I'm worried as fuck. What is the outcome of this?

>popularity of Youtube has grown exponentially: every year it's 10 times more vids, more views, more paid Youtube celebs than last year
>people need hours of their precious Youtube time a day, the amount of "me time" required increases yearly
>dumb entertainment and ASMR has more views than educational videos
>"ASMR artists" and cleavage streamers make more a month than a doctor
>kids are given smartphones at 6 years old and indoctrinated to use TikTok and Snapchat as their main interest in life
>these kids grow up wanting to become online celebs who get paid just to exist and post pics on Instagram
>people prefer to find a mediocre job fast rather than study for 7 years to make a bit more

Get it? The human brain releases dopamine so you'd feel good, and you're hardwired to look for the easiest and fastest dopamine source. This is why the Internet is so fucking dangerous and nobody saw this coming. All of humanity is already chemically dependent on the Internet like it was a drug, and it actually is.

Some journalist in my country speculated that we're fucked in 50 years because of the Internet.

Just think how fast this thing got out of hand and imagine the next 50 years.

I agre 100% with wht you said.

You forgot one thing: PORN

We are so fucked.

This is not an accident, it's intended. Dopamine is the strongest chemical known to man, it's what you use with that power determines your character. The risk to benefit factor is extremely unbalanced for megacorps since they have already have monopoly over most of our society. The incentive for them to be virtuous just isn't there. No matter what you do a, you'll never be absolutely independent. Now i'm no defeatist so, CYBERPUNK UPRISING WEN?!

Phoneposting typos, lol.

>a semi-attractive girl from your class is a typical nobody
>starts taking pics of herself in a bikini near some rented outdoor pool
>acts like she's rich and famous when she obviously isn't
>starts getting followers just because guys wanna see ass
>2 years go by
>she's seen as an actual model
>people acknowledge that she's a celebrity, above mortal humans
>you see through this facade as you've known her since grade school

It's bullshit. Never follow an Instagram whore.

Don't you dare derail the fucking thread mister. Where here talking about the collapse of society as we know it not some random T H O T

Shut the fuck up you stupid "deep" teenager.

>SHUT UP I need my Netflix time or else I get cranky REEEE

>online porn

I've fapped 5 times a day for the last decade. Can't stop.

I remember when certain videos I watched had views in the thousands.
Just a year ago they have views in the millions.

The Fuck.

The internet is honestly the worst of our worries when there are paranons saying the world will end in 20 yrs

I dont have a netflix subscription you queer 15yo faggot.

What a dumb boomer.
Get in or get out.

Same thing here, my dude.

Here are human needs that get satisfied by artificial stimulus:

>Sex - porn
>Journey, accomplishment, struggle, growth, skill - video games
>Socialising - social media, watching youtubers and streamers
There's probably more, but you get the idea.

NEETs have no instinctual incentive to abandon the lifestyle, because we get "everything" for free and with no effort.
Thus is what our biology thinks.

However, deep down we feel miserable because we know the truth.

As a guy in mid thirties, I can't talk to anyone who grew up with the internet (so anyone below 30) at all. They have a completely different brain structure. They get cranky and basically like a baby that wants chocolate, if they're not getting their hourly doses.

It's the same thing when you try to talk to a woman with orbiters and you get the one word responses, except their orbiters aren't even real, they're just retarded distractions that don't even teach them anything or give them a topic to talk about, it's not like they're watching a youtube video that stays in their mind and then after watching they can discuss it with you, it just takes up their time and disappears, like they're in a constant brain fog.

I honestly have a similar experience talking to people younger than 30 that I experience when talking to my mother who's in early/mid stage of Alzheimer's.

>They have a completely different brain structure. They get cranky and basically like a baby that wants chocolate, if they're not getting their hourly doses.
Explain.

Have you ever seen a toddler act up when they don't get something that they want? That's how they act if you try to engage them on any topic that isn't part of their usual dopamine drip schedule.

You have to mold yourself into the perfect missing puzzle piece or otherwise they don't even want to do anything with you.

And I'm just talking about NEET losers here, not actual people with social lives so you can imagine how it is if you want to get through to someone like that. Ironically I think that Stacies are more well adjusted since their dopamine drip involves actual people so at least you get cucked by orbiters and not abstract surrogates.

Well i don't inhibit any of the characteristics you've pointed out, am an outlier or are you just calling literally every single human being under 30 to be a brat? If anything that says something about you more than it does to othera since you've failed to mention the millions of poverty stricken families and not forgetting the millions of talented humans younger than you. You say that you're 30 but i doubt anyone 3 years older than me writes this drivel.

>Have you ever seen a toddler act up when they don't get something that they want? That's how they act if you try to engage them on any topic that isn't part of their usual dopamine drip schedule.
Oh okay. I've never personally experienced anyone actually acting like this, but your original generalization intrigued me, so I had to ask for a more in-depth description.

>2 climate change threads
>now this

This is not the comfy Saturday I had planned, r9k

>proceeds to act like a brat because someone said something that isn't 100% in line with his way of thinking
Yeah, that.

There's a Truman thread on /tv/ to really round out the existential despair

It doesn't help that every single thing is also trying to maximize the amount of dopamine released to try and make more profit, that how the majority of large website are able to keep people coming back by ensuring that they get such a large and consistent hit of dopamine, that whenever they desire it, those particular website can feed into the craving for dopamine.
I remember a study, but can't find it, in the study they found that mindlessly browsing facebook and in particular reddit would release dopamine in anticipation for finding a post that they wanted to see.
This would also mean that image boards fulfill the same purpose, mindlessly browsing though shit until you find something worth looking at causes dopamine to be released in anticipation.
Another anecdotal example, if your browsing here there's a decent chance that in the past you played game quite a bit but over time found yourself playing games less and less and browsing image boards, youtube and the like more and more, that's because these website can provide stronger hits of dopamine and can do it more consistently.
I can't help but think that all of the advancements that have been made over the past century haven't had enough time to fully show the affects they have on the human mind and body, and I can't imagine that they're positive affects.

Everyone knows the effects dude.

You ever think about how when we die, in our final moments it'll be like a massive withdrawal from all of the stuff we do to keep ourselves sated?
For people who are content with nothing it's probably a very easy thing.

Welcome to Hell, wanna drink? I'm just getting over my hangover

Eckhart saw Hell too. You know what he said? He said: "The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of your life; your memories, your attachments... they burn them all away." But, "they're not punishing you" he said, "they're freeing your soul". So the way he see's it, if you're frightened of dying and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But, if you've made your peace then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth.

Calling millions of humans brat just because of the fact you've made some crude observations here and there shouldn't be anyone's line of thinking UNLESS you're actually under 30 yourself.

I have the opposite experience. Seems like the world wants to reinforce all of the things that I've acknowledged are no longer necessary or maybe never were.

>more youtube celebs every year

could I be the next eceleb bros? i want to live off patreon and twitch streams.

>complains about people watching videos on youtube
>spends 6 hours a day browsing Jow Forums

>nobody saw this coming.
>nobody
Oh boy you are so wrong, (((they))) knew better than anyone this would happen, in fact this was the desired outcome.

>not using that mechanism to your advantage.

there is nothing wrong with dopamine, everything is all just chemicals at the end of the day. you only complain because you aint poppin son.

it feels good being a internet celeb.

Oo look at all the pretty lights wow

could this post get more 20 year old pseudo intellectual wannabe boomer?

lol nice im using that reaction pic for tumblr

I'm 29 and I share his feelings.

Everyone seems like a mentally weak toddler to me.
People just get comfy at home with their entertainment and scream "REEE!" to the harsh realities of our world.

all this mass media shit is nto as rewarding as you imagine. they will not be able to fill the holes in their lives, and once realized, they will either seek more interesting things, or degenerate completely

The fuck? This post made me think thoughts and I don't like it.

How is that actually happening and where? Inside your brain in a microsecond that feels like a long time?
I believe the human brain is capable of making something feel like a shitton of time when it's actually a microsecond.

>they will either seek more interesting things, or degenerate completely

I know NEETs in their 40's.
Most people who go too deep in the dopamine game will never recover and the amount of people who are like this is on the rise.

i saw hell to when i had clinical death, it's really cold and cowards go there theyr didnt want to move in life so not alowwed to move in death

>when i had clinical death

Tell me more.

Smart businesswoman

>What is the outcome of this?

Don't give a shit. Let it all burn.

Right now.

rest is not interesting, i wake up in hospital bed

Try a week long dopamine fast. That means no internet, no music, no cell phone, no porn or masturbation, no junk-food, no TV. All of your time spent reading self-improvement / educational books, working out and preparing healthy meals.

I did this a few months back and my productivity skyrocketed. Of course I stopped after the week and gradually fell back, mainly because I needed the internet for my degree.

My mind was so much clearer and calmer.

Then again seeing as you are here you have probably already given up.

I deleted facebook, stopped using imageboards and went from smartphone to old brick.
Had to come back to Jow Forums at least but everything else is still holding up.

>self-improvement/educational

i hope for your own sake you don't consider these to be a synonym. or would you go so far as to insult actual science books?

Get a hobby that doesn't provide instant gratification where the only reward is your own merit of accomplishment. Something physical ideally, lifting works for lots of people and it's useful and just plain healthy

Attached: 1920x1080_C30T9809.jpg (1920x1080, 618K)

The speed at which time and information moves is now way to fast. I cant even comprehend how people heads wont be exploding in the 2020s.

Lifting is gay as fuck

Why do you say that? T

I don't think people are dependent on the internet, I think it's just that real life is utter shit in comparison.

I've never got as many complements in my life as at the gym... From dudes... It feels pretty gay.

Why do you care about that to begin with? You could exercise at home if you really felt that uncomfortable

? He is right. Lifting is gay, that's all.

Attached: q.png (370x320, 10K)

Why not take up another activity then if you're primary concern is unfulfilling dopamine release?

I sat in one spot for nearly 24 hours, not eating, attempting to dopamine fast, either writing down shit or focusing on my breath thinking.
When I was finally able to eat something it was fucking amazing.

I'm not privileged enough to be able to eat healthy though.

Me not OP. Me fine smacking meat stick. Me thank.

The only solution to this crisis is bupropion. We have to inhibit the mechanisms through which dopamine is leaving our synaptic clefts. Bupropion for everyone!
