How hard is it to freeze yourself to death?

If the temperature outside is below 30F/0C and you drink yourself unconscious that should do the job, right?

No. You'll need lower temperatures, or prolonged exposure.
Alcohol will help you die faster though. It lowers your resistance to the cold.
I would not recommend that, though. If you're absolutely set on suicide, get drunk and find the largest possible body of water.
I wouldn't recommend suicide either, but what do I know.

Go into a pedestrian tunnel, get shitfaced, collapse on the ground, start singing Molly Malone and hope some droogs come around to put you out of your misery.

You probably want it colder than that if you don't want it to take a miserably long time. It will be miserable no matter what so I suggest you get good at meditation and fast beforehand in order the make it ultimately peaceful. Don't do any of that stupid shit where you force yourself into a situation you can't get out of. Drive North where its close or below zero. Don't go too far from your vehicle and meditate in the frozen wastes. If you can't face death than get back in your car and go buy some hot cocoa from the nearest dinner because congratulations: you chose life. If you successfully face death, congratulations you've earned it but it's sad to see you go.

Stay frosty, don't be dumb.

You can die of hypothermia at 50f if you pass out drunk outside

Each year thousands of homeless freeze to death in the cities and you guys say it's virtually impossible.

My other choice is a hangman's knot, but there's so many things that can go wrong. Other than that I'm probably only left with going to mountains and jumping off a cliff.

best way to kill yourself is put your head in a gas oven or shoot yourself. worst way is suicide by police.

What can go wrong with hanging?
If they don't find you in around half an hour you're pretty much guaranteed to be dead isn't that right?
I remeber reading that somewhere

It's possible, but the human body is pretty keen on survival and it's likely to be a long an painful process, if it doesn't fail. Your body will wake you up, shiver, experience extreme pain, and so on. Passing out drunk in the winter isn't a reliable way to die, but it is a reliable way to suffer.

It takes a lot of cummulative factors for the homeless to freeze to death. Malnutrition, sleep deprivation, weakened immune system, hunger, thirst, etc, not to mention the physical violence they're often victims of. It's not at all comparable to someone who would lie down on the sidewalk to hopefully die overnight.

I would go with a gun, or drowning. They're the most reliable, I would say.

Not American unfortunately = no guns
Except, like most people here, I'm a pussy and I'm trying to go painlessly. Multiple things can go wrong with drop hanging and I'll be left flailing and suffocating for a couple minutes in excruciating pain. Might as well just drink clorox at this point.

Makes sense, thanks.

If you were naked there's and completly passed out there's a good chance you'd die.

It surely won't last as long as a few minutes here's what wikipedia says:

Regardless of the material used to form the noose, suspension hanging will kill its victims in three ways: compression of the carotid arteries, the jugular veins, or the airway.[16][17]
About 11 lb (5 kg) of pressure is required to compress the carotid artery; 4.4 lb (2 kg) for the jugular veins;[16] and at least 15 kg (33 lb) for the airway.[18]
The amount of time it takes to lose consciousness and die is difficult to predict accurately and depends on several factors. Some believe unconsciousness occurs in five seconds, though Alan Gunn writes that it generally takes longer.
It took a man who filmed his hanging 13 seconds to become unconscious, 1 minute and 38 seconds to lose muscle tone, and 4 minutes and 10 seconds for muscle movement to cease.[19][20] Full suspension is not required; most hanging suicides are done by partial suspension, according to Wyatt et al.[21] Geo Stone, author of Suicide and Attempted Suicide: Methods and Consequences, suggests that death by obstruction of the airway is more painful than by the other ways.[15]

But I don't think there's really any way to truly evaluate how painful it is

Where have you read those things? I know that people that are about to die experience a sudden sensation of warmth, so much so that they undress in freezing temperatures.
You basically fall asleep as you slowly lose motor functions, your cognitive abiletes falter and you heartbeat slows down.

>You basically fall asleep as you slowly lose motor functions, your cognitive abiletes falter and you heartbeat slows down.
That would be when you die. But before that, your body will try anything it can to jolt you awake in order to keep you alive.

do you know how painful it is to die by jumping?
like there's always the chance you might survive in fucking excruciating unendurable pain with broken bones & you'll become a cripple for the rest of your life
but like if it's from a really really high length would you feel the impact when you hit the ground? would you die instantly?

Man I don't really know. It's not a method I've ever really considered.
I guess if the jump is pretty high you're not that likely to survive but I guess it depends a lot on how you fall.
Like if you go head first or like horizontal you have a better chance of dying than going feet first.
My grandma told me that when she was younger she saw the aftermath of a girl attempting suicide that way, and it was very messed up.
The girl went feet first and had the whole body below the waist very fucked up. She didn't really describe it into details but said that the girl had 'her bones in all the wrong places' or something like that english isn't our native language. I think she survived.
I mean personally i'd find it pretty nerve wracking to attempt to do a 'correct' landing.

OP again. I understand what you're all saying - the only way to go is the gun way.

But I'm Europe which means I'd sooner break into a nuclear facility and steal uranium than get a hold of a firearm.

Why is making the body just let go so hard?

its because you are being a massive pussy about it

>ooh b-but it might hurt

You going to be dead 2 minutes after it so what the fuck do you care?

Where in Europe?
Certain countries have different Laws regarding that.

Fun fact time

Drunk tanks were first implemented in Russia as factory worker staff would pass out drunk outside and die from exposure pretty regularly. Factory owners couldn't afford to have their staff dying so they would bring them to a cell to sleep it off

No but rly don't kill yourself
