Looking to start oly lifting. Found a local club with training hours which fit round my job. But they only train mon,tues,weds leaving me four days to do whatever.

I was thinking about just running an extra day of strength work, until I'm confident to train the lifts by myself. Something like the following:

Front Squat
OHP
RDL (or some form of clean)
Chin Ups (just for a bit of beach work)

5x5 or something similar

Does this seem reasonable?

If you read the paper it is scientifically sound. Add in RPEs getting closer to failure each week so you don't burn out, and after studying it: modify it to your weaknesses. I did something like this before I even knew LSUS was a thing using things like fatigue percents (coming from a PL background) and just doing RMs with backoff sets for the main lifts.

That's a load of horse shit. High repetition work has been linked to greater changes in body composition as well as eliciting the same hypertrophic gains in less time that equivalent volume divided into more work sets. Know the science before talking out of your ass. Plus that's just the hypertrophy phase, the strength and power phases are primarily 3's and 5's.

Doing tens is literally form breakdown: the program and a waste of time. Skip straight ahead to the fives and threes. Although snatching or cleaning fives for anything but your first warmup weight is retarded. The classics should be triples at most and accessory pulls should be triples or fives depending on what fase of training you're in.

My coach never programs for sets of 10 reps, doesn't make sense. But at the highest volume, in precompetition period, before the competition season starts he will make us do like 4sets x 6reps at around 70 75%. But as we move on, it's less and less common.
Basically he divides the training into cycles: 1st is high volume low intensity, 2nd is medium, medium, 3rd is low vol high int. Most important is 2nd. And this applies to meso and macrocycles.

That's only one phase of the program. After a couple weeks, you move into lower rep ranges. It's meant to be an off season base builder.
