Reminder that you'll never develop truly great quads with squats and squat-variants. An underdeveloped Rectus Femoris will always make your legs look sub-par.
t-nation.com/training/tip-squatting-misses-this-leg-muscle >The rectus femoris, the big muscle belly that ties the vastus lateralis and the vastus medialis together, doesn't grow much with squats. Why? Because it's a two-jointed muscle. It crosses both the hip joint and the knee joint and works as a flexor of the hip as well as an extensor of the knee. >So when you squat down, the rectus femoris gets longer at the knee end, and shortens at the hip end. This means that it pretty much maintains its length and doesn't contract a whole lot. >EMG-studies have shown that while the vastus muscles contract at a factor 100 during the squat, the rectus only contracts at a factor 50.
Well, what does? I'm looking to add something to my leg day routine.
Easton Kelly
well the fucking google search i just did in 12 seconds says lunge but idk
Jonathan Davis
You are chatting horseshit my man.
Liam Hill
The source says single joint movement, so leg extension
Carson Lopez
I don’t lift to autistically make specific parts of my body bigger.
Gabriel Jenkins
>tripshit manlet
hard cringe. fuck off and kill yourself, retard.
Eli King
thats weird because mine are developing fine
Evan Davis
Just because you're a lanklet with no gains doesn't mean everyone is. That said, Isley you gotta lose weight man. You'll never be competitive strength-wise, but you used to be aesthetic.
Matthew Morris
Yes, they are developing, but they are still underdeveloped.
Christopher Hughes
Knee extension movements without hip extension. Leg ext, sissy squat, etc.
Unless you do sissy squat like that in your pic or my pic related, there will be hip flexion involved while doing leg ext. and doing it on sissy squat bench.
most people ego lift so it turns into a good morning squat where the weight is shifted from their weak legs to the back. if you don't feel your quads working you are doing it wrong.
Cameron Parker
this
Nathaniel Mitchell
I feel the lower part of my leg working but not the quads.
Wyatt Thompson
>hip extension >hip flexion learn to read pls
Mason Cox
Hit a nerve did I?
Levi Russell
Should your lower back not be engaged at all if you are doing a full AtG low bar squat? You're giving me a paranoia, friend
Jason Lee
the lower back is always engaged during squats/deadlifts, but you should not focus on it. rather, you should focus on keeping a tight core.
Camden Richardson
good thing nobody that is mentally sane gives a fuck about legs lmao, only mentally ill bodybuilders do
Sebastian Perry
lower back is part of the core, brainlet
Ryan Smith
>reading comprehension
Henry Howard
This is why a variety of everything is good. Don’t get stuck on just one exercise

DO FRONT SQUATS YOU KEKS
Connor Gomez
Define "competitive". I can compete on the international platform. Although I'll never win.
Jayden King
>lower part of my leg
you mean calves? you're doing squats horrible wrong
Robert Brooks
So just keeping the lower back tight? I've been focusing on keeping my pelvis tilted toward the ground, which is how I can assure that my core is engaged. Does that sound right to you?
no, if you focus on keeping the lower back tight/arched, you will just hyperextend and then flex it. no, don't focus on your pelvis either. it won't assure your core is engaged. it will probably do the opposite even. what you want is to brace as if someone is going to punch you in the stomach, similar to how you brace when planking. look up abdominal bracing (for squats) on youtube. chris duffin has some videos on it.
This is the biggest part of my legs and I only do 3x5 high bar squats once a week at 120kg now. In fact I would say this particular muscle is strangely big in comparison to the rest of my leg musculature.
Please explain.
Landon Parker
NOIIICE. What cycle?
Logan Green
so? the other user said there's no hip extension, so you isolate your quads, rather than using your hamstrings/glutes.
Andrew Murphy
samefag
Caleb Brooks
>hip as well as an extensor of the knee. /thread
Jaxson Morris
Jeff said a sissy squat will fucking kill you (don't do this!)
Ryder Stewart
Once again. The lower back is on the other side of the abdominals and as such, is a part of the core.
