Former power lifter needs to cut the fat

I lifted like a madman from freshman year of high school till sophomore year of college. Went from football to boxing to powerlifting. It wreaked havoc on my body. I’m about to have kids and I want to be able to keep up and not be some tired ass fat-dad. Help me cut this fat off, please.

You’ve got some work to do but sounds like you got the right attitude.

Eat clean start at 2k calories and do cardio and lift. When you stop losing weight drop it 200 calories

Thank ya. I’ve been dabbling in Keto and I’ve lost 24lbs so maybe I’ll stick with that. Cardio has never been my strong suit since I’m one of the unfortunate few with asthma. The elliptical machines don’t tend to work it up as bad though.

Don't change lifting lifestyle.
Do more cardio, even walking daily will increase your energy.
Carry things around the house or wear a backpack.

Any amount of weight loss at your level will increase energy m8.
Leaning down to life a little one up every few seconds in those first couple of years takes its toll.

If you lose thirty pounds of fat though, it's not nearly as bad.

As I replied above, I recently lost 24lbs so I know exactly what you mean. My energy levels are completely different. I guess I just need to keep on keeping on, with a little more cardio mixed in (as much as I hate it). Thank you for your advice man. It’ll suck and you’ll feel like shit but that’s just part of it and we all have to go through it.

Drink lots of water. Here was my diet when I recently lost 40 pounds

Breakfast

Piece of toast
1 tbs peanut butter

Lunch
5 eggs
Mushrooms

Dinner
8 oz chicken breast

I had two scoops of protein between lunch and dinner. It was a pretty harsh cut but got he job done and was high protein.

Man that sounds just like my diet as an offensive lineman. Guess I just need to get back to basics haha.

That’s literally all I did. I joined a local powerlifting gym cause they wanted to get me into the Highland Games. It was the nail in the coffin for me. Bulking and more bulking. That’s all it was. Be glad you got out while you did.

I've been doing powerlifting training since the beginning and have bodyweight hasn't changed for a whole year, while my lifts have all gone up. Bulking for the sake of bulking is just retarded.
