I'm not familiar with the Australian armed forces recruiting, but I would highly recommend doing the RAAF equivilent of Officer and Aircrew selection before going to university (if you plan to go). That way you can join straight after uni (or HS) and not have to deal with all the faff, which will end up delaying your start date.

and funnily enough, all non-democratic nations in the last century all have been very stagnant as well and have been proven to be unethical or corrupt, like China. empirically, democracy is superior for now.
