there are no South African "natives". The whites literally beat the blacks to south africa. The closest black civilization to south africa at the time of white colonization was the kingdom of Mapungubwe which had its southern limits in present day Zimbabwe.

You don't see why it was a prime area for colonization? It was at the crossroads of the most important shipping lanes in the world (suez canal was still 250 years away) and had fertile land, a pleasant climate, and no hostile natives. It was the ideal place to colonize.

Well the plan now is to go to university in america where my brother is now, and hopefully the same school. From there I can get a H1B and work towards a US passport

It's good to have FFL as a last resort. Age limit is 39 years, so plenty of time anyway. But it's a good way how to get European (French) passport - you get it after three years of service or after injury in combat. Also it's not that hardcore as it used to be, pretty much a bit harder than your regular western army.

Also some American user may confirm, but I believe US military had MAVNI program for foreigners to apply and to get citizenship that way. Not sure if Trump ended it or not now.
