Women's "depression" always stems from one of their boyfriends/break ups, it's always connected to sex or relationships in some way, so i don't know why you'd have us believe that women can get depressed for other reasons when they can't.

Isn't it obvious? Women just report depression and depressive symptoms more often and they're also more likely to go to the doctor for any condition and take medication of any form. They have a lot more "compliance", which doctors and pharma companies love $$$. They also believe they are depressed. Males are supposed to have more of a leader role, they don't like to think of themselves as depressed, they are a lot more likely to reject that label. The idea that women are more likely to be depressed is imo bogus. Psych is not a real science (in my personal opinion, most people probably disagree but I have good reasons), it is way too arbitrary. If you took depression as meaning that it affects your ability to do things then clearly it would be all those men who are "depressed".

There are different levels an individual may face, but a lot of women are quicker to seek medical help than men, and it isn't just for mental illness, there's statistics that women are more likely to be on top of their health and schedule more regular appointments than men. I think that's a result of public health campaigns targeting women's reproductive health creating behaviors at a young age

Take that as a positive or a negative, but there are definitely individuals who experience classic expressions of depression. I dated a girl who was fiercely depressed when her abusive father developed cancer. She went days without eating, sometimes not getting out of bed, etc, but it's very much an individual thing
