Regarding chess, do you have to have played it as a child to be good at it? I'm trying to get minimally good in it but I can't get over lvl2 in lichess AI and I'm a pretty intelligent guy.

It takes memorizing and improvising. Keep working on it to become good. Will take you years.
Years? lmao, I don't think it's worth spending that much time on it then.
>I can't get over lvl2 in lichess AI and I'm a pretty intelligent guy.
That's just sad. Face it: you're not as intelligent as you think you are
He probably just doesn't know Jack shit about chess and has a bad mentality for it. High level chess requires a very, very specific mentality.
>High level chess
>lvl2 in lichess AI
You don't need any special mentallity to beat level 2 lichess AI, just logical thinking and a decent brain.
No one is calling level 2 "high level" i was referring to op saying he wants to be good you actual stupid fucking nigger.
face it: if he can't beat level 2 lichess AI there is really no hope for him.
Y-you're OP, aren't you?
Go fuck yourself. You don't even know what the Lichess AI level 2 is. Get the fuck out of here, you don't know what you're talking about. You probably are even worse than OP.
No im not
Why would i be op?
>You don't even know what the Lichess AI level 2 is
It's the 2nd difficulty level of the AI on chess platform Lichess.
Start with openings. Get some openings for white and some for black memorize and down. Then you need to wrok on your decision making in games. This can come from either puzzles or analyzing your own games in lichess. Just because you're intelligent doesn't mean you'll be good at chess immediately. Once you do the things that I told you you should be decent, from then on it's practice, memorization of more openings and scenarios, bigger harder puzzles, and more practice. gl lad I wish you luck on your journey
Thanks, user. Will study. I appreciate you not being a jerk like the other anons.
Dude, seriously reconsider the fact that you're not as intelligent as you think you are. If you can't beat lvl 2 lichess AI studying won't help much.
Learn some openings, don't play blitz (spend a lot of time to find the best moves), do chess puzzles and analyze your games. Also realize that it will take a lot of time. I have played about 300-400 blitz games and I'm only rated ~1200 on lichess. Great chess players are great because they are extremely tenacious.
Some people are book smart, they're smart because they can retain information well once they've read it. Just because he can't beat Li chess level 2 when he just starts doesn't mean he's dumb. seriously come off your fucking high horse
what's your rating user??
>Some people are book smart, they're smart because they can retain information well once they've read it.
Yeah, exactly. Everyone I meet sees me as an eloquent, specially thoughtful intelligent guy, and I've read a ton of books so whatever topic they bring up I have some knowledge of it. People also say that I have an incredible memory as well. I can even understand very complex concepts and ideas easily, but the thing is, somebody has to teach me, that's how my brain works. If someone doesn't teach me then I just can't figure out by myself. I will pick up things very easily but I don't discover anything by myself. You could say I'm an unimaginative guy or whatever, but very intelligent still.
>but the thing is, somebody has to teach me, that's how my brain works. If someone doesn't teach me then I just can't figure out by myself.
yeah nigga you stupid
this looks like clinical stupidity to me
it's not about intelligence as much as dedication
the biggest chess players have crazy backstories about finding out the game in some random store and going there for years to play
Look up chessnetwork on youtube, he has good tutorial videos. Learn the tactics and only a couple of openings. Then just practice a lot.
