If I go to a shooting range, is there anything stopping me from killing myself? I live in a place where personal ownership of firearms is near impossible, so a shooting range is the only way for me to access this method of suicide.
Are there any precautionary measures that they might take to stop someone like me? It might sound like a stupid question but I need to be sure this will work.
shooting yourself is disabled in a shooting range. once you aim your gun at your head it turns off
it's not possible to shoot yourself at a firing range. i suggest finding other ways.
I would assume this is a joke but I don't know anything about guns, or electronic modifications that the gun range owner might install.
How would they be able to turn it off that quickly? If I just pretend I'm about to take a shot but then turn it on myself?
Friendly fire is disabled on ranges for safety, that includes hurting yourself with the gun. Sorry OP.

Once the barrel points away from the range backstop, the range officer will jump on you and kick you out and ban you from EVERY shooting range

of course there is nothing to prevent someone to shoot themselves at a shooting range. but it wouldn't be nice to do so.

You'll behave really sketchy and they'll probably notice that something is up. I highly doubt that you could hide that well enough. Either that or you'll hesitate and in that moment someone will probably rip the gun out of your hands.
I've been fucked in the head for long enough ad nobody has noticed. But yeah, actually being minutes or seconds before death would probably make me act weird
If you live in a country where guns are hard to legally obtain and own you will more than likely have to go through some hoops to even be allowed inside of a shooting range. Personally i would advise a proper hanging.
I've looked into that and it's my number two option. Anything that is painless and instant is better though, so I'm still looking into this method.

I'll spare you the "don't kill yourself" speech I'm sure you've already heard. I don't want you to do it but if you must I don't want you to suffer so here's my advice.
Shooting yourself in the head with a handgun is NOT NOT NOT a guarantee of a painless death. You can easily fuck up and survive horribly for a few minutes. Do not shoot your temple. Do not put the gun under your chin. Do not put it in your mouth. You can survive all of these.
Find out where your brain stem is, I guess.
Addendum: An example of the reason for my warning: there are people who have put guns under their chin, large rifles even, and simply blown their jaw and face off and are alive just sitting there being filmed. Its horrible. Look it up.

If I remember correctly, the best way is behind the ear, pointed at your brain. There a gap in the skull there, or something. Look it up.
