Why is there no straightforward consensus on what and how you should eat?

Because there's money involved

How do we come to know anything?

Ohhhhhhhh....

Right.

So we look at population groups and see differences between them. Some groups are healthier than others. Some eat differently than others. We can see commonalities that supports a hunch- one nutrient or thing might make you healthier. Of course it may not actually be causing these groups to be healthier. It could be exercise, lifestyle factors or lots of other things.

You can take studies where people record what they eat. But that's prone to error. And it also doesn't show causation. You can try to control for traits like exercise, income, etc, but that's tricky. Ultimately the kind of person who eats salad and tofu is different than the person who eats a 10oz steak. But whatever.

You then tend to make nutritional recommendations off of this and maybe a handful of short experiments with fat people where you switched what they were eating.

Given the time and expense of actually feeding significant numbers of people controlled diets though, you simply don't have the data on these various things until many years down the road.

Because of vegans

Because there isn't only 1 good way to eat properly, there are plenty.

Because each person is really different and even in litterally current year nobody know jack shit 100%

Because our world is a capitalist free market that benefits from people being dumb so there's more money to be made off people who will just eat good food constantly even though they should be fasting and eating healthy

what's the difference between eating good food and eating healthy ?

Yes there fucking is.

Just because you don't want to stop drinking coke like you need it to breathe, doesn't make it any less of a consensus that you need to stop.

Good food is tasty, from good quality ingredients and well made, but not necessarily healthy.
Healthy food can, and should, be all of the above as well as good for your health.

Drink six Onionss a day.
Five on rest day.

this

There is tough.

Good: Whole grain, protein from lean sources (or contains healthy fats), 5 servings of veggies/fruit a day, dairy in moderation.

"Bad"(but still ok in moderation): Most processed food, refined sugar, saturated fats, large amounts of sodium, alcohol

The only people that won't agree with this are retarded, selling something or has some kind of religious/moral reason.

You proved nothing by expressing some basic suburban mom advices

Terrible advice that the government’s been touring since the 80’s and the world’s health has only gotten worse. Saturated fat is necessary for life and not harmful, grains, especially if they aren’t sprouted, soaked or fermented, are useless and detrimental to health

Because humans come in a wide variety of types, but it isn't politically correct to address any of the differences between the various groups of humans. So something that works for one group gets stretched into a poorly fitting one size fits all standard for everyone. You need to experiment and find what works best for you.

Mom pls leave Jow Forums

This is a good point too. Dairy is a good example of something that is simply not good for everyone based solely on certain populations being lactose intolerant. It's not much of a stretch to hypothesize that some foods good for certain populations are harmful to others.

Because of the money, personal differences and large amount of good choices.

If you want some autistic answer like
>eat rice bacon and eggs 5 times a day and take these multivitamins and do this and this etc..
you're not gonna find it from anywhere reliable. eating is complicated.

What works for one person doesn't for another.
example, my family heritage is from the Netherlands and Germany, I eat a lot of dairy and I feel great, don't breakout etc. Somebody from Sub-Saharan Africa couldn't do the same and feel good. Eat what makes you feel good and perform the best.

Raw dairy has the lactase enzyme making it tolerable for almost all lactose intolerant people. Cooking milk is useless
