The whole "nice" and "check ur privilege" thing started as a joke when it was still a Reddit parody joke board. Then it morphed into a way to poke fun at /b/tards or newfigs who'd go into the board trying to be as /b/ as possible. The board was a sh*tposting hub at the end of the day and everyone was in on it, namefigs and anons alike, to have fun. Some name became notable posters who'd contribute or sh*tpost, some are used as one off ironic jokes, but those who took it seriously would be impersonated for laughs. That's why some namefigs like "Yuji Sakai" or "le shit nigger" became impersonated a lot as part of the meme and not just a single individual (cuz no tripcodes). Some names also came from those contribute a lot of stuff like CSS, music, game or art projects so it was just easier to look up their stuff in the archives or associate who's who with (like the albumes).

The attention seekers/camwhores who seek attention for the sake of it are looked down on for the most part, outside a couple of anons who tolerate/like them. Those types definitely fit your description Tunisia-fig and a lot of anons on [s4s] don't like them either... It's a mixed bag. But the board definitely isn't a single minded cult. Some jokes that started back in 2013 kept going until it became part of the "board culture."
