The jist of it is that this dude Zamorak wanted to overtake a literal god and stole and ancient staff and got a few of his orbiters to backstab this god named zaros. He didnt kill him but zaros mad am oppsie and impaled zamorak with the staff stuck inside of him inadvertently giving him god like powers. Zamorak was later banished by the other gods and his powers grew stronger he returned to claim the stone of jas (the essence of all matter in RuneScape) and overtake gielinor. The god wars lasted for about 4000 years and millions of creatures died. It was the equivalent of the Armenian genocide x1000

Honestly; I'm sure I could handle it. I'm not OP and the only Metal Gear game I've played was reveagance. Raiden is my favorite metal gear character as a result.

They expanded it with the new RuneScape half tempted to just play it for the lore but osrs is too comfy. To give credit to the team they have been very careful with the osrs lore despite everyone just looking up a quest guide and skipping the dialogue
