I think, at the end of the day, the mistreatment of animals and the practice of enslaving animals, is really just a sympton of the technoindustrial system. It's because the masses need food and the farmers need to make a living. I suppose vegans would claim you could fix this by imposing veganism, but that would only really be a bandaid solution, because the underlying cause would still be there.

or an even cheaper method would be to just dump them in the pit, cover it in a tarp that is fixed tightly around the seam, stick a hose pipe connected to a car exhaust into the pit and gas them to death. That would be even cheaper, quicker and more humane than 3 gallons of gas or electrocution.
