I've never seen it distract a teacher. If the lecture was so interesting, just keep listening. The person packing up requires literally none of your attention. When kids would do this in school, the most attention it got was a few people looking up for a split second to see where the zipper sound was coming from.

Its incredibly disruptive especially if the lecture is as quiet as a mouse and the only thing you hear is the professor and some asshole frantically shoving stuff into their bookbag

It is rare, but sometimes it does distract the teacher, even more so if the class size is small. It isn't more than a minor inconvenience.
