So, i've been going to the gym for a week now, honestly, i feel much better.
The whole reason i joined was because i was fed up of being walked all over and treated like shit by girls and guys - I suggest some of you guys try going to the gym, if you complain about '>no gf' then why not join the system of getting Jow Forums and turning women down instead of them turning you down? If you can't beat the system, join it.
Also thanks for the anons who gave me advice, god speed.

Be ready, user. The only people you'll be turning down are fags. Women might get impressed with your body after a year or two, but ultimately they'll get to meet you and turn you down anyway
Nice trips tho
>working out can solve mental illness!
honestly, try going to the gym even once and actually try to exercise.
It's been proven to increase your dopamine level, and also it will increase your confidence

It takes a while, but you just have to be determined. anyway who gives a shit about women? i just want to be more toned and have more upper arm strength
i do physical work every week. i don't need to pay for a shitty gym membership to get ripped and impress fags. i don't want to, either. it takes too much time too. the whole gym culture is shit. people who are fit shouldn't go to the gym. it just leads to supplements, followed by drugs, followed by a shorter life. for what? to impress someone i don't even want to impress? to gain absolutely nothing and give a couple thousand dollars, a shitton of time and my dignity?
>couple thousand dollars, a shitton of time and my dignity?
Test is cheap and in 12 weeks you can look like a fucking greek statue. Not sure how your dignity factors in.
>faggots working out for a physical appareance
>not working out for to gain true strength and be able to move 300 pound furniture by yourself
>what is health
>what are goals
i don't want to look like a fucking caveman. i don't want to participate in hookup culture by changing myself to fit a "standard". i know Jow Forums bros are just trying to help, but it's plain old escapism.
As gay as it is yoga is pretty fun. There's lots of donation based yoga places in most cities and there are lots of cute girls all the time. Just dont be a creep and you start to make friends
Getting fit will not get you laid. It barely helps. More than making you attractive, it removes the unattractive of a shitty skinnyfat body, which is a decent improvement, but not more than that.
>what is health
Working out isn't going to make you less healthy, and if used correctly neither will steroids.
>what are goals
Goals differ from person to person. I just find it ridiculous that you look down on other people for meeting their own goals.
>Getting fit will not get you laid.
Untrue based on my anecdotal evidence. I went from a 3+ year dry spell to swimming in poon and eventually a stable relationship, the only thing that changed is I got fit.
Because I get awful gym anxiety and I don't know how to make it go away
Great job, OP. Everyone should be lifting. The most important thing is to make a habit from it, part of your life as a eating or job. Lift for yourself or Hitler, no one and nothing else. Wish you all the best gains, we'll all make it.
>i don't want to look like a fucking caveman
Nigger you sound same as fat whores who won't do anything with themselves, because "going to gym will make you look like a man".
Go at morning/late night.
>Go at morning/late night.
I go late at night but there's still a few people there and I'm always paranoid that people will laugh at me or I'll be recorded and put on the internet
... Why do you think anyone cares about what you're doing unless what you're doing is unsafe?
Dude, people there either 1) don't give a fuck 2) fear the same thing as you do. Be cool, read Marcus Aurelius, acquire those gains.
I honestly suspect that he's a teenager. Only teens have this level of insecurity about being around people they dont know.
>got a gym membership because my Jow Forums coworker said he would train me
>too scared to even go in alone to pick up my gym pass
>we pick a time to go
>he doesn't come
>happens three times in a row
>give up on the idea of going with him
>still too scared to go into gym by myself
i want to fucking die
>... Why do you think anyone cares about what you're doing unless what you're doing is unsafe?
Because if I act stupid I will feel embarrassed. Not him but I'm 27.
Check out old Scoobs channel on Youtube. He has extremely simple and wholesome videos on technique and eating. You can get easily Jow Forums just from his videos and website. He also frequents/frequented Jow Forums himself.
Hey man your in the easy gains feels good stage this will last for a month try your hardest not to let your routine slip if it does your fucked it's been all Most a month since I've been to the gym it can happen to you. Beware
If you act stupid more than likely someone will politely help you out before returning to their business. This is unless you go to some over-commercialized Californian gym full of thots and cunts who are probably as weak and inept as you are.
>If you act stupid more than likely someone will politely help you out before returning to their business
I'd probably be distraught for the rest of the day.
My first few times in the gym were pretty daunting. I had no routine, goals or knew what my max weight was for each machine/exersize. I walked to the closest Smith machine and just did that a few sets, then went to the next closest one. I worked every machine there, not because it was fun or that ai was looking to work my whole body, I busted wanted to know what it was like.
The next time I knew where everything was and did just the arm related machines. The next day was the leg related machines. Eventually I ran on the treadmill and used the bike.
Just touch each machine once, it's so much less intimidating after that.
Where's the best place to start for reading Marcus Aurelius?
Meditations, his only book. Download it somewhere or buy it and start reading. He has very simple and easily understandable style of writing and the book itself is one you will be coming back to frequently. Trust me, it's one of the best books ever written.
