its fucking expensive

>expensive
>I’m a bitch nigga and scared to put myself out there in combat sports
>want to start boxing first

I did some sparring with a guy my size and he was giving me a tough time with 2 years of BJJ. Pretty neat stuff desu

I don’t wanna dry hump another dude

Will soon Desi. But I want to hit a 3pl8 bench before I do so , so at least I have some decent strength to start with and I know if I start I won't be able to bench as often and as hard as I am now (every other day)

Because I'm doing 柔道 instead

>easy to get a permanent injury from
>somebody who can punch you in the face quick will whoop your ass anyway
No, thx, I'll rather stick with my kickboxing.

Yep, same reason im not doing capoeira or crossfit either. Ill stick with mountain biking and rock climbing as my active hobbies

Too many injuries but maybe I'll take the dive again once im bigger and stronger

Imma single leg and rape you in that order

Because I'm doing MMA?

because i don't give an absolute fuck about BJJ

Based

This

The cult atmosphere. I did bjj for 3 years and I can't deal with the circle jerk of it. I get that people are passionate about their hobbies but when I saw people quitting their white collar jobs to "train hard and eat acai bowls bro" I knew I had to gtfo

I'll admire it as a martial art but the hype needs to die down

Gracie barra?

Because I play Rugby

açaí is fucking based though

YOU HAVE TO LIVE IT

*knees you in the face*

I just started.
I'm 90kg/200lbs, squat 220kg and bench 120kg. Got my ass kicked by a 60kg dude competing at worlds level, it's no joke

Doing judo, it’s cheaper and I like to practice standup more than rolling

I hate a lot of people who do BJJ. They're the people who are strung out on onions with minus T levels leaking reddit vibes all day. They do their best to be buddy buddy with the coach and avoid anyone who they think will smash them, and get salty if anyone does even though they barely even train properly at all.

The issue with BJJ is that you can kind of do it without getting hurt most of the time, so it attracts a lot of pathetic people. I feel reasonably unwelcome at the place I train, just because the middle-aged guys with rapidly dropping T levels can't handle a younger, lighter guy making them look like retards. I've been there longer than any of them, so it still baffles me why they act like that.

Do you mean bbj OP? I dont usually go that route because it costs extra

bjj is fucking gay lol i seriously hope you dont do this. just do muay thai or boxing or kickboxing you utter homo.

>...you can kind of do it without getting hurt most of the time, so it attracts pathetic people.
To add to this, it also is glorified as "technique beats strength", which also attracts pathetic people. Every day I grow more tired of the people in the sport.

Only use is 1 on 1 fighting and in my area you're more likely to get gang assaulted ny shit skins

>nothing personal

Picked up some boxing and kickboxing myself recently, with a decade in grappling. You should be aware that grappler with half a brain will shoot/single/double/clinch/whatever as part of a combination or as a counter, and it's a lot harder to stop them at that point. It surprised me how easy it was actually, even within the more restrictive ruleset.

That said, the average BJJ dude shoots pretty badly so it just may work.

>Must protect the red shield!

>mfw our club split up several years ago and as a result of an influx of Judoka and wrestlers as well as many of the new higher belts having a background in standing grappling means everyone who sticks around quickly leaves their ego at the door and fights properly

It's pretty neat. Very low cult levels. The main coaches still sometimes stick to teaching their sloppy BJJ standing game, but me and a friend get to teach Judo and wrestling too.

Fuck off then.

Cause I wrestle

Because im doing muay thai

I like BJJ but that's because BJJ is the only grappling in my area. I made it to blue belt. I'm moving to a capital city next month to do University, don't know whether to go to one of the high end competition schools or whether to round out my grappling and do judo for 6 months, get my ne Waza or whatever it is happening.
Fairly good at competiting, was state champion in my weight bracket last year.

Not trying to fuck up my joints with contact sports.

Do your parents know you're gay?

I did wrestling in high school and plenty of combatives in the Army. Learned my lesson. Have fun with your fucked up knees and shoulders.

I tried contacting a local club about joining, but they haven't got back to me.

Was considering looking into BJJ, didn't realize it had a reputation of being expensive. What's a less expensive martial art? Boxing? Judo?

i agree but acai bowls are good tho

boxing is more based. bjj gyms are full of circle jerking basedbois. The boxing gyms in my area train pro fighters who fight high caliber fighters like macros maidana and we even have a guy who fought floyd mayweather. If you want to surround yourself with real men and grow some confidence do boxing. It takes actual balls to step into the ring and throw hands.

probably the worst part of it. I've wrestled a couple guys doing BJJ, with only the knowledge gained from watching UFC I plastered all of them.
Doesn't help that I had 10-20kgs on them

Maybe just do MMA. Higher test and you actually learn how to fight, not just do half-hearted takedowns and get stomped on.

>Boxing? Judo?
Yes
They are also vetted martial arts that will help you if you ever get into an altercation.
Not a marketing scam targeting soft kids who were too pussy to even play football or "football" in school.

You have to look at gyms in your area for prices, there is no universal standard. The MMA gyms in my area are the most expensive(also the only gyms with boxing coaches), the cheapest options are the clubs that rent out school gyms in the evenings and weekends (local Judo club does this). Though the difference in cost isn't that huge.

Judo is shit. Sorry, fuck all of you. If you want to learn takedowns then wrestle. Judo guys are awful on the ground. Most black belts are just completely lost there. Stand up is extremely reliant on the kimono.

I like submission grappling. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done some MMA and striking, but I would rather spend my energy on grappling. There are cool people who grapple too, just was talking about the ones who aren’t cool.

Are you saying to take wrestling for its' take downs and that judo is shit because it's not focused on ground work completely

What are you even saying?

You're the guys who roll like you're at the mundials with 40 yo hobbyists and get people injured but too autistic too understand why this is unwelcome so come to Jow Forums to complain?

But I am. Not only BJJ, but Judo too

Imagine being this stupid. First off, judo isn't about takedowns, but throws, sweeps and trips; there's a big difference there. Second, a huge part of BJJ ground game is just judo ne waza without the weaboo names. Just because most judoka don't develop their ne waza properly, doesn't mean the style is bad. I cross train judo and BJJ, and most BJJ guys can't do shit against me while standing, but that isn't a fault in jiu-jitsu, but rather in the training style of the practicioner. Judo techniques can be also adapted into no gi moves (we have a weekly no gi training at my dojo) and still be effective too

This, my local BJJ gym wanted $130 PER MONTH fuck that shit I'll just cc a pistol.

No it's not. Stop being poor.

You sound like a spazzy white/blue belt. Almost everyone I know who is good has the ability to go harder or less hard and roll with anyone and both people have a good time and get better.

People like you are retarded.

Boxing gyms are generally filled with white trash and the minority equivalent. Lots of blows to the heads made dumb people even dumber. That or you have some shit for soccer Mom's like title or 9 round where they don't even tell you how to hit, but have some douche with a headset yelling motivational shit at you.

I'm guessing the guy is all talk and too much of a pussy to do MMA. MMA training is pretty difficult. Not for everyone.

Some Judo people are quite good on the ground. Depends on the club.

But I don't really understand your point? Learn takedowns for what? For some street fight fantasy you have in your head. Fuck off. Do martial arts because they are fun.

Went to a Gordon seminar. His GF was his Uke of course and she was nipping out bretty hard the whole time. Was pretty good. He's basically like a Jiu Jitsu robot who rapidly spits out answers he has learned from Danaher. Can't get over his nerd voice though.

You should see how butthurt people got from that picture on social media - while Gordon and his Thott were laughing about it.

Attached: 1551627229794.jpg (852x536, 62K)

It's very gym based.
Generally the few things that ruin it

>Respect me, I will intentionally disrespect you
>no humility
>crank it till they wince, iTs HoW yOu lEaRN
>acai is the cure all
>only try to roll people of equal skill
>mat enforcer is greenlighted because I felt like it
>bull-shit-do

And then you have cool gyms, which typically have a few cunts but mostly full of people just trying to sweat and learn.

I just want a sport where I don't have to use all those "gi" Korean words

How much cardio do I need to not be immediately gassed?

Why? Also, the only japanese terms you'll need to know for BJJ are jiu-jitsu (obviously) and gi, and yet you have lots of other martial arts where you don't need to use asian words extensively like boxing and wrestling. Judo indeed is full of weeb shit, but you get used to it after a while
Depends on how much stamina you already have. If you are one of those boomers that get tired just by warming up or harrying some heavy bags, you'll probably need to do some, but not much. For the rest, you'll get all the endurance you need by rolling regularly.

You better have a link for that pic related OP

I'm brazilian, been practicing BJJ for a long time (on hiatus because niggas gotta study) and I've trained in all sorts of places from favela to suburban faggy gyms. Didn't manage to find a single person who was an asshole or a retard. You americans are weird.

Nice LARP shill.

Meet me irl buddy

Because I’ve got medical equipment attached to my body.

Where are you from, buddy? Here in Rio I regularly see assholes and autists getting into BJJ, the thing is that they usually don't go further than white belt. I think it's also good to take in consideration that americans have a fuckton of McDojos, so it might have something to do with it

>kimono
Brainlet pls go
