Why is there such a stigma against muscularity? You could be minding your own business, wearing normal clothes, and if you're any sort of visibly muscular, some fuck will come out with some sort of meathead swole-shaming. Normies blow any sort of bodybuilding training waaay out of proportion. You could be completely natty and you'll attract shit. You're either assumed to be vain and/or dumb.
And it seems to be an American thing too, people from more "traditional" cultures seem to respect power and strength a lot more than a cityboy who drinks almond milk. Even in the UK rugby is an upper class sport, being muscular and strong isn't nearly looked down upon. Most actual powerlifters/bbers/crossshitters I know have engineering and law degrees and are very intelligent. One of my mates is a literal rocket scientist and he deadlifts over 500lbs.
What gives? Where did the dumb stupid meathead image come from?
There is a point where being simply fit and healthy, becomes an obsession and the foundation of an individuals personality. We don't hate those who are fit, we hate those who are excessively muscular for the soul purpose of showing it off every chance they get on their shitty instagram pages.
I also don't really agree with that line of thinking either. I don't really view myself as being superior to someone because I'm slightly more aesthetic or stronger than they are. I feel good doing what I do and that should be enough
Because it's a direct reflection of their own inadequacy. not everyone wants to look like a bodybuilder, but it makes them realize that they don't exercise whatsoever and look like shit. realizing this, they lash out.

A couple reasons First, people are jealous. They see a muscular/fit body and play sour grapes with it (you waste all your time at the gym, health problems, stress on your heart, blah blah blah). It's the most straightforward Second, the weak-minded of society view fitness as a "pointless" endeavor (we live in a comfortable society, not Neanderthal days! There's no practical purpose to being strong! blah blah blah), as if being fat, lazy, and unhealthy has any benefit in any society. They justify their sedentary lives by saying they have better things to do, like reading books or pursuing an education or raising children, as if all those things are impossible if you go to the gym Ultimately, it's just insecure faggots who view athleticism as a negative. There's just more of them now than there have ever been. Ignore them. They don't matter and their opinions are wrong.
You should feel better than them because you don't need to insult people out of the blue to mask your own insecurities. Even people that have a successful career and family can be deprecating to others and can still be insecure about what ever issues they may have.

Here in Europe it's weird. Untrained frenchmen see me as good threesome material. Untrained germans see me as someone with determination. Untrained brits see me as a "lad" (whatever that is), except Londoners who either want to fuck me or kill me. Untrained americans on the other hand automatically assume I do roids even though I'm not even that muscular, and say things like "too much exercise can kill you" or "it's bad for your spine" or "dude don't take supplements it's bad for your body" all while munching on disgusting burgers and fried chicken with more fry than chicken.

People like to believe life is like a videogame where you have a limited number of stat points to allocate. "Surely if you have high physical strength, you must be deficient elsewhere," they think. But that's not how it works at all. We start unequal, and those gifted with force of will can become even more unequal. People struggle with the problem of inequality: we do it at a societal level with how to deal with the permanent underclass, and city dwellers are accustomed to seeing the homeless. But seeing the opposite, someone who might clearly have privileges beyond that of birth or circumstance? That's an entirely different personal struggle with the problem of inequality. I think the less comfortable one is with inequality in general (ie those who believe equity is a noble goal), the less comfortable one is with seeing both someone apparently disadvantaged in life as well as someone seemingly advantaged. Probably a symptom of our increasingly deranged culture: it's not enough to uplift the weak, the strong must also be brought down. Pure Harrison Bergeron.

It's a cope Socrates said your body is a living breathing image of your self worth and they have none
Well that but also... >Where did the dumb stupid meathead image come from?
Well, let's be real, there's not a high cognitive barrier to entry into bodybuilding the way there is at, say, chess. And dumb people are going to be more likely to gravitate to bodybuilding when other activities push them out.
But yeah like the other posters say it's jealous cope. Smart people are ugly and bad socially. Jocks and models are stupid. People with nice cars have small dicks.

I used to think along similar lines, if you can call it thinking. Can confirm it's pure cope.

Pretty much the truth. Had a boomer coworker make fun of me because I didn't have donuts after breakfast. At least I'm not the one that looks like a thumb.

Huh...is this a regional thing? I've lived most of my life in Colorado and really never gotten anything but Jow Forums support. Even from fatties.

nah, if you look like OP's pic you legit have body issues and also nothing useful to do with your time

Its a neurosis of them to try and "average" you out, sabotage you. Your own wife/girlfriend/spouse/twink will often then naught try to do the same to you, in order to control you, and or not feel like shit.
>yes, people are that fucked in the head
Even my own mother purposefully sabotages me. Calls me "skinny", tries to buy me that fucking cancer called "breakfast cereal" with the "heart and stroke foundation" logo on what is essentially sugared cardboard flakes.
People are desperate to justify their laziness. There's a belief in the modern world that you can either be strong or smart, but never both. It's complete bullshit, of course.
We live in a time where lazy, ugly, less educated people have a platform to voice their insecurities. What do all three of those qualities have in common? They're effortless and easy, meaning they're the common denominator multi-million dollar companies will try to appease in an effort to get their buckaroos.

people don't have self-control or self-reliance. Government is family, protector and confidant (as long as I agree with it). it makes sure people make the choices I agree with. Pride is sin in leftism because I can't take what you've created and give it to someone else. So all I am left with is making sure no one tries to strive for more, or if they do, they are punished.
I live in urban Canada and have not had by compliment on my apparent strength. Though, when I visited the states, I've had some little yoyo kids playing it tough with me at a bar. What gives?

We tend to be right leaning. Society is very anti rightwing nowadays. Women still love masculinity though. Actual women, not the dike feminazis and shit.
Justin Sanchez
Because people generally understand the truth, that bodybuilders are body dysmorphic, OCD, orthorexic, and otherwise mentally ill individuals. Being healthy, strong, fit, that's fine, but when you cross over into vascularity, striations, using drugs, that's fucking dumb and shortens your life. Normal people understand this just like Jow Forums does.

Lmao. Vascularity and shoulder striations are attainable natty. Just have to be lean enough. The body doesn't store fat on the fucking shoulders.
Connor Davis
True, having lived in Fr, UK, Austria and Ger, i can confirm mentalities change a lot. It will also depend whether big city or not. Americans don't do a lot of thinking for themselves, it's not so much their fault, they don't get that education unless lucky and have 'intellectual' parents. It tends to make there thinking more black or white and direct. It's not that big of an issue but doesn't allow for much mind openness
Because they instinctively realize that you have bad genetics. Big muscles are unnatural. Should not have roided if you want respect from normies.
Zachary Thompson
Here in Holland it's 50/50. Split between guys that mock you to feel better about themselves and guys that compliment you on your physique. The latter are usually lean and athletic where as the former are skinny, skinnyfat or chubby.

Jealously but its more than that. A fit body is something that has to be earned. A fit body exudes potential, dedication, performance, strength. Anyone can do it, but most people lack the ambition or dedication. They see not only anothers success and progress but a glowing reflection of their own lack of such gains. When someone shames another who is fit it's not just because they see the other persons strength, it's because their faced with their own weakness.

Why I'd hated fitness.
>be me >fat dyel >everybody telling me to get fit >i don't like to workout, i don't want to do it Years goes by, my body becomes more messy and decided to change it. Maybe everybody cared about me, but damn they all annoying pricks beyond fucking reason. Maybe I'd started earlier if not thier blabbering. Also this fucking gay vibes from bodybuilders and their admirers.

People respect muscularity here in balkan IRL
Benjamin Rivera
In all honesty I've never been Jow Forums-shamed IRL in all my years of lifting, on the contrary, I've only gotten 'mired from time to time. The only Jow Forums-shaming I see is on the internet, mostly HAES nobodies chimping out at pictures of Jow Forums women and pathetic conceited DYEL comic book artists posting COPE about how they might be DYEL but they're super intellectual (despite how trite and unfunny their cartoons are).
What happens a lot to me IRL is clean eating shaming. I do IF and clean bulking when not fasting, at work we have a lot of meetings with lunch brought in and I usually just drink coffee and water, and I get comments like "lol I don't think I've ever seen user eat". I don't mind that at all at work, if my coworkers want to remain fatasses it doesn't matter to me.
Outside of work it's a different story - both mine and my wife's parents, being boomers, are happy to eat garbage every meal and comment negatively on my "obsession" with clean eating and how I should eat like a normal person, as if there is anything to be proud of eating the normie American McDiet. This enrages me because I see it as an attempt to make my wife and kids fat.
>Well, let's be real, there's not a high cognitive barrier to entry into bodybuilding the way there is at, say, chess.
True you don't need to be smart necessarily, but you do need a lot of discipline and focus, and these qualities correlate strongly with intelligence.
