What’s the difference between intermittent fasting, water fasting, dry fasting, etc.?

How do I safely do an extended fast?
>Take snake juice, or just supplement electrolytes.
>Water=2L
>Potassium chloride =1 tsp (No Salt)
>Sodium chloride = 1/2 tsp (Himalayan Pink Salt)
>Sodium Bicarbonate = 1 tsp (Baking Soda)
>Magnesium Sulphate = 1/2 tsp (Food Grade Epsom Salts)
>Mix these in 2L of water and sip it throughout the day.
>[OPTIONAL] 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar and 4 tbsp lemon juice. DO NOT MIX with snake juice, drink separately.
>You can also do this if you feel lightheaded, weak, dizzy, nauseous, etc., on shorter water fasts. Don’t do this while intermittent fasting.

Won’t I go into starvation mode?

At how many hours is it considered proper fasting? For months I've only eaten during a 10 hour period of the day, and I noticed no change in my physique whatsoever. I eat well, exercise etc

Fasting means not eating. Technically everyone fasts all night, including any fatass that doesn't wake up at night. /fast/ is about consuming fewer calories.

I previously went from 240 pounds to 175 in about 3-4 months by basically starving myself and not eating a lot (though I did not fast).
I felt like shit and had symptons of very low electrolytes.

I fell off the wagon again and will try real fasting, this time with proper knowledge of electrolytes and other aspects. This shit (not eating) really fucking works.

Anyone else felt like OMAD isn't sustainable once you don't need to lose any more weight?

I loved OMAD, but after a month of it I definitely feel like my body is stressed and I feel really fatiqued and exhausted. I went back to 16:8 and feel a lot better now. I'll go back to it if I want to lose more weight at any point, though.

Im like 36 hours in or so. Probably gonna go another 24 since im going skiing all day tomorrow and have been lifting heavy past few days. What happened to all caps bro?

You'd really need to stuff yourself to maintain when at a low BF% with OMAD. Trying a traditional lunch and dinner schedule with no snacking would be worth trying. Get yourself on that schedule at I lends well to social eating with friends. If that's not enough, the good ol' breakfast lunch and dinner is good.

I was 23.5hr in before I went to dinner with my wife now I'm shitting pure liquid. Like, can't-trust-a-fart mode. Is this normal when you come off a fast and don't break it with something like just soup? 23/24hr isn't even that long, I wasn't expecting this.

After 15 days OMAD I've averaged 20 hour and 24 minute fasts between 2 hours and 38 minute feeding windows.

Did my first 24 hour fast yesterday. Felt good. I want to do 48 with some snake juice this weekend.

Don't need to bother with the snake juice if it's just a 48. Plain water is good enough.

if you're eating a full meal then yeah, that probably happens to me like 1/3 of the time even if it's just 24 hours

Only about an hour in to my first >48 hour fast in about a year. I've been training hard, but my diet has been out of control for a few weeks. Using the fast as a chance to reset.

Have you been getting enough water/salt to replenish what you sweat out? Could be your main issue. Refilling those and some rest might get you back to baseline. Or could have something to eat if the snake juice doesn't help.

Make sure you're getting plenty of salt, water and electrolytes. Obviously you'd normally be getting some of that thru food and now you're not. This can really help with light-headedness.

You could go another night if you want to. It might be worth resting tomorrow, especially if you do hold the fast. Otherwise you can eat. It's up to you, but generally day 3+ is where it gets easy, so I think extending it is cool when it's feasible.

What's the best fasting app guys? I tried LIFE but thought it was pretty shit, what with having to hit a button to start the fast (like what? am I supposed to eat my last bite of food and quickly tap start? Lmao) and the interface for manually entering hours.

If you're not drinking snake juice then your issues are certainly due to the lack of electrolytes. Drink some salt water.

Just hit my first 24 hours

My chest literally hurts, I think I'm getting too fat, I have a boulder gut hanging off my torso. Will fasting save me from dying from a heart attack? I wanna be a healthy skeleton.

Start doing 16-8 RIGHT NOW and see if it makes you feel better, if it does go 20-4 or even 23-1, if you like that, try a 48 hour fast with some electrolytes, if you like that, try dry fasts or longer electrolyte water fasts, experimentation and patience won't kill you, you just need the initiative to start experimenting now

I have tried short fasts many times in the past and I felt totally fine even though I didn't take any electrolytes. But last night I threw up what I assume was bile from its color and taste pretty much all night after just a 1 day fast.
Has this ever happened to anyone? Do you know what might have caused it?

Did you eat something weird before fasting, or are you perhaps sick? That sounds really strange. Only other thing I can think of is you started snake juice, but something you put in it doesn't agree with you. But being only one day in I doubt you were bothering with that yet.

Personally the only issues I have is refeeding goes right through me sometimes, so I honestly can't say if that's because of the fast.

Vomiting after 24 hours only? 24 hours is close to what average adults do when they're on a "skip breakfast, only eat lunch and dinner" meal plan when it turns out they have to work thru and skip a lunch. They don't go barfing during that.

You may have some other issue causing this. But I would attempt to solve that issue and put the fast on hold right now.

I don't think I'm sick, but I suffer from constipation and I read it might have something to do with that.
It was actually about 35 hours, but I've done longer fasts without feeling that sick

Im riding my bicycle to work, 10km. Should I do it while fasting? Wont it have negative effects on muscle mass?

I just got blinded by hunger, one minute I was fasting and the next walking around my house and eating everything and ordering food.
Just ate one Snickers, one large thin crust pizza, a packet of chips, some ice cream, cornflakes and some kebab thing. And I'm still not feeling full.

I'm going for as long as I can, each day is a victory. If I ever get urges I just sit in front of some food until it goes away.

I would say 4 days is best if you are going to workout right after it, but you can both workout and fast.
