Is it really THAT bad to NOT do stretches? I have never done any in my life and I'm still fine. Are there studies showing negative effects of not stretching??

Stretching before lifting kills your gains. Stretch before bed.
Just do yoga
dynamic stretching before a workout, and static stretching after, will reduce your risk of injury & soreness.
every real pt knows and stresses the importance of stretching
why do women do this?
Wat
Stretch before and after you do your workout
You sir are correct, yoga helps get more oxygen to the muscles by stretching them, you recover faster and can grow faster too
Source: been doing 3 days yoga + 3 days gym (not big by Jow Forums standards but growing)

Yes and no. Stretching is good for your joints and you ligaments, because it allows you to bend more easily into proper positions for lifts so that you won't hurt yourself, and also is generally good to keep off tension in your body since there is a clinically proven connection between the state of body and the mind (massage to relax the muscles also releases anxiety) so releasing tension is also better for mental health.
On the other hand, stretching the muscles, just like stretching anything fulfills the ultimate purpose of loosening them up. Where this might be great for anyone who is looking into activities that require "speed" such as sprinting, it is very detrimental to those who are into lifting, as what actualy moves the weight is the tension in the muscle. Simply put, a looser muscle can move less weight, and being looser can also increase the likelyhood of it snapping. So everyone should stretch to improve flexibility in the ligaments, but stretching before lifts is a big nono.
goddamn borderline porn pics and instawhores barely cut it for me but this made me diamonds

That's actually a great hip spreader, if you want to be able to do a split like Van Damme that's a good stretch

I will tell you from personal experience you should warm up, stretch lightly, workout and stretch after. I've blown my shit out and rehabbed it on my own and fixed a lot of imbalances in my body.
My routine is 3 heavy days ppl and 3 high intensity days ppl. On my heavy days I always gradually progress by adding 5 more reps to each exercise no matter how long it takes (I only take 1 - 2 min rest) got my bench up from 1mr 225 to 315 x3 in a year. My ohp from 155 to 225 etc. T. I'm also 5'8 @ 202 natty on a slight calorie surplus.
I'd like to be a part of her assertions
Lifting heavy and never stretching is a good way to snap your shit up, unless you already have a well rounded base from sports
Are those her pussy lips? They're PHAT
who is this succubus
Who in God's name is this beautiful thottie goddess.

not stretching leads to limited mobility leading to possible muscle imbalances
like anons said before dynamic stretches help prepare your muscles for mobility and muscle activation and static stretches post workout for increasing flexibility and recovery
good flexibility goals would be being able to sit in a full squat meaning ass touching heels and heels touching floor, rack the bar across your clavicle with the back of your hands resting on your shoulders and being able cross your legs into the lotus position without external assistance
the most perfect asian girl I've ever seen, who is she??
Static stretching before working out or you want to do something physical diminishes your performance. You have less strength and wore out a certain sort of elasticity to your muscle fiber. Do a warm up before doing a physical activity then do static stretching afterwards.
You don't need to stretch unless you're trying to do a specific movement that requires better flexibility, like a split for example.

I always stretch before running. I used to stretch then lift and the one time I didn't I pulled a back muscle.
Feel like stretching does help but also aggravates further injury if you're used to stretching beforehand compared to if you're not used to doing so.
Stretching after exercise does not reduce chance of injury, warming up properly with movements similar to those you will be doing in your working sets will reduce chance of injury.

Active integration exercises pre-workout
Active isolated stretching and form rolling post-workout
Alright boys and girls thank me later her names Hwang Ah Young
>static stretching after lifting
Whenever I do that, I get really bad DOMS. Especially in the legs. Can't even really call it DOMS, since it's a different kind of pain and impairs workouts for 3-4 days (sharp, stinging pain that gets worse when the using affected muscle).
My explanation is that the stretching aggravates the tiny muscle tears from lifting. To avoid it I just stretch whenever now.
There's a lot of conflicting information on whether it's good for you or not. Stretching too much could even be harmful. I think you can't go wrong with some light stretches after lifting, just do what feels good.

>Hey Jow Forums, what does *LITERALLY ANYTHING* do?
>IT KILLS YOUR GAAAAAIIIIIIIINNNNNS!
I mean stretching does so you can become more flexible.
If you are not flexible you cant do anything desu
Or you know you could also overstrech
"It kills your gains" is the rallying cry of manchildren on this garbage board to avoid literally anything uncomfortable.
Stretches? Cardio? Calisthenics? Sets greater than 5 reps? Cutting? Nofap? Cold showers? See where I'm going with this?
Nofap is bullshit
Fucking physical therapists (and because of them a bunch of PT and PE teachers) are obsessed with stretching to a degree that is not justified by the literature.
Yeah stretching has *some* benefits, but not as much as actual exercise. So sure if you really have nothing better to do with those 30 mn, spend them stretching. But if your time isn't freely expendable, ask yourself if those 30mn wouldn't be better used lifting and doing longer rest periods.
