I DL 325lbs x5 hook but I'm thinking of switching. its honestly just too annoying to have to chalk the shit out of my hands every time -- the sweat really makes it hard to hold a hook grip imo

Do you also do hook grip for pull ups? Rows? Squats? Barbell curls? Hook grip is for autsit that want weird muscular imbalances

LMAO just grab the bar with your hands and pull nigga how hard can it be
t. 2.5pl8 deadlifter

i hook grip everything from lateral raises to when im floggin the log

4.5 plate diddly with hook grip at 72kg bodyweight. *flex*

lmao

what? how is hook grip imbalanced?? It's the same on each side brainlet

Guys i'm a handlet it really limits my DL. What do? Can't even really hook grip because fat midget thumb.

You can literally see his arms pull in the beginning. This is 100% his fault and not the fault of mix grip.

You can, though you usually wouldn't need to. Do you use alternate for those?
Straps.

He should have filmed it form the back, can't really tell from this angle

>imbalances

1 set of hook grip
1 set of reverse hook grip
=no imbalance

mixed. A lot of powerlifters swear by hook grip but the best ones and more honest ones will tell you that it's just personal preference and outside of that hook grip is a guaranteed way to forever cripple your thumb, which you actually use for a lot of stuff. I play the guitar so never ever in my life will I use hook grip. If any retard dyel starts talking about torn biceps just remember to not be an idiot and lock your arm in place by extending your triceps prior to lifting.

>reverse hook grip
So, thumbless?

False grip

Attached: 1550736734800.jpg (888x894, 68K)

stop it, you can do it. I know an 11 year old that can do the hook grip with his baby hands, so you can do it aswell.

This honestly

Attached: 1545577357751.gif (245x240, 494K)

I play the guitar and hook grip, if you do it the right way it doesn't even hurt

No grip
I lift the bar with my mind

based

Is there anyone who can lift more hook than mixed?
Objectively hook grip is superior, but I can’t pull more than like 285 without it killing my thumb.

Do you also used mixed grip for pull ups? Rows? Squats? Barbell curls? Hook grip is for autsit that want weird muscular imbalances

I never do mixed cause i can feel a tension in my bicep, i think it might be cause i have a small elbow hyperextension

Insane weight
Keep it up

Dislocated shoulder?

Reporting for duty.

300kg bar at 3plate bw hook grip. *flex*

A gentleman and a scholar.

>so insecure he even has to comment on finger dexterity

whats next? the muscles of your eyelids being strong?

Usually do mixed, I can double overhand most of my deadlift sets I don't think 4 reps of mixed grip deadlifts a week will cause any imbalance

Plz be kg

Bicep tendon snapped.

When mix gripping your arms have to remain neutral, if you engage your supinated arm next stop is snap city. That bicep will require surgery

Nope. Something about hook grip really hurts my thumbs. I don’t train it though so that could be the problem. At this point I can overhand lift more than I can hook grip. I used mixed for my work arts.

Double overhand until grip gives and then hook. Only if I'm testing Rep Maxes. Otherwise it's double overhand and straps if there's a reason.

t. Fatty that pulls 160kg no hook for singles and 185 hook grip for 3

imagine not hook gripping

t. 234 kg x 5 deadlifter

Impressive
Have you got big hands/long fingers?

Dude he was trolling you.

Hook grip kills for like a month, then the nerves in your thumb die or something and it's okay.

Average for my height, I think. (182 cm)

I did 180kg for a triple, on chrome bar, no chalk, no straps, double overhand. Should I start YT channel?

Ask me how I know you are a 5 foot 5 manlet.

>Hook grip
Fuck off with your normalfag thumbs

absolutely disgusting

Lmao what's up dyel

Baste

Attached: Boardshorts_DL_Workout_1.webm (259x420, 2.98M)

why not change to a real deadlift such as conventional?

Hook grip until grip fails on heavy sets then finish off with mixed.

He's certainly not doing sumo if that's what you're implying.
stop swinging your back backwards like that.

How much is 2.5 diddly?

That exaggerated layback at the top is fucking retarded since it literally does ZERO work on the bar and you're just verging into roleplaying a fucking seal at that point

> He's certainly not doing sumo

?

Neither. Double overhand.

I'm sure you're insecure enough about internet opinions to not do sumo, but if you were to actually read up on the form for a proper sumo, there's much more to it than just putting your feet far apart. It's not a hip hinge movement like that. What is in that webm is closer to a conventional diddly than a proper sumo pull.

Hook grip if you do weightlifting/want to maximize your sumo/are at risk of tearing a bicep because you're on steroids. Mixed for literally anybody else, which is most people.

> I'm sure you're insecure enough about internet opinions to not do sumo,

I don't do sumo because:

1) Decreases involvement of hip extensors

2) More vertical back angle, so decreases involvement of spinal erectors

3) Shorter ROM/Easier movement

4) Too much overlap with the squat

5) Looks absolutely retarded

7) Conventional deadlift uses the most muscle mass over the longest effective ROM, and is therefore the superior movement for people who don't compete, like me.

>if you do weightlifting
?

> Mixed for literally anybody else, which is most people.

Mixed for no one else. Lifting with asymmetrically rotated shoulders is retarded.

Hook for everyone. If you play guitar, use straps.

He meant Olympic weightlifting.

Fuck 7) should be 6) since I deleted 6) because I decided it was redundant.

Thanks.

We're naturally asymmetrical. Further any back imbalances created deadlifting with mixed grip are so insignificant that the rest of your pulling will correct it. You'll have more imbalances from playing baseball or tennis than deadlift with mixed grip for 15 reps a week.

Doesn't matter how small the issue is, if the issue is entirely avoided without drawback by doing hook or straps.

On both variations you do conventional overhand for all your warm-ups, so you still build grip strength.

that wasn't even the point of the post
I have ZERO reason or desire to argue with you on how you choose to train.

I only posted ITT to laff at a dumb post.

Attached: WujJLhP.jpg (2561x1435, 142K)

Unless you deadlift like an idiot there's literally no drawbacks.

I think the entire fitness world agrees upon the fact that if your feet are outside your arms on the pull, it constitutes a sumo deadlift, regardless of the other mechanics.

You're just being a pedantic fuck about your hurr-durr-this-is-how-to-sumo knowledge

>You're just being a pedantic fuck about your hurr-durr-this-is-how-to-[literally any lift] knowledge

ah welcome to Jow Forums! enjoy your stay. fat girl threads are on the left, /fraud/ general is on the right, and QTTDTOT is down the hall to the left.

>Completely stall at 140lbs deadlift because my fingers turn into hooks that I can't straighten out afterward and get carpal tunnel syndrome for like a week
>Switch to mix grip or straps
>Linear progression is going fine
>No more carpal tunnel syndrome

REALLY TOUGH CHOICE FOR ME PERSONALLY

Attached: 1558620333956.jpg (478x478, 56K)

You’ll get more of an imbalance jerking off with the same hand than deadlifting mixed grip. Mixed lets you lift more weight than hook, I can definitely rack pull more mixed.

On a deadlift bar I pull more hook. On a stiff bar I pull more mixed.
Have pulled 270kgx3 hook grip dl bar, haven't pulled more than 250kgx1 with hook on a stiff bar, 280kgx1 mixed grip on both stiff and dl bars.
So sort of yes and sort of no.

Imagine pulling barely over 2xbw

>he only needs one hand to jerk off

>Completely stall at 140lbs deadlift
female?

How the fuck is that first pull 200 kg? Are those 40kg plates or something?

Mixed grip is for handlets who arent able to hook

Hook grip is for people who don't want opposable thumbs in later life, mixed grip is for people who want herniated discs.

Swallow your pride and just get straps or do grip training

Hookgrip feels the same to me as a double overhand grip does except more "locked" in, which is how i think its supposed to be and everybody complaining about their thumbs are retards that are trying to lift the weight with just their thumbs.
