if you really eat at a deficit then the reason you are not losing weight is most likely due to water retention. I water fast for 5 days but didn’t lose any weight til refeed, next morning drop 3kg. Trust the process.

Energy balance is largely determined by hormones. I don't know why people think they are different magisteria. Beer affects hormones.

You only have to look at steroids to see how with the same calorie intake, a change in hormones leads to a drastic change in body composition. The same is true for alcohol and many other drugs and even the quality of your calories.

apparently when you drink any alcohol with food, your body has to metabolize the alcohol first so all other types of calories like carbs, fat and protein become body fat.

also alcohol seems to contribute to the body building visceral fat especially and also inflammation.

drinking any alcohol makes me gain weight uncontrollably, I'm sure not everyone is like this but I get a huge gut going unless i cut it out completely.
