Should I kill myself for not being able to grow a beard? I'm well into my 20s and absolutely nothing grows on the cheeks. Only a little bit on the chin and upper lip.
Seems like 95% of men can grow at least some facial hair. How am I supposed to even call myself a man?

don't worry about it too much, beards are mainly genetics. Pic related, french-algerian rap duo PNL. They're brothers, but as you can see one has a full beard while the other has a very patchy one.

I tried minoxidil on my face for a couple weeks and my head hair started shedding badly. Freaked out and stopped (except I still use it on the back of the head for the thinning head hair)

minoxidil always causes hair shedding on the first weeks mate.

lighter colored whites tend to have less body hair than darker whites so that could be a reason. I have dark blond hair, my brother has jet black hair and he's significantly hairier than me.

how long did you use it for? afaik minoxidil takes quite some time to be effective
either that or it could be that you really don't have the hair follicles on your face to be able to grow a beard.

I used it for I think about a month or so. On the package it said shedding should only last up to 2 weeks but it kept going.
I might give it another try someday. I was seeing a few hairs on my chin starting to darken. But keep in mind I have absolutely nothing on the chin. From what I've researched most people at least have a little bit of patchy hair on their cheeks. If I look really closely I see little tiny white hairs but people can't notice them whatsoever.
I do have money and a career at least. It doesn't really mean shit when you're this ugly though. I get no attention from women.

If you quit before your facial hair turns terminal, there's a high chance it'll fall out. How long did you do it for?
I used minoxidil for nearly 6 months. I noticed that I have a very smooth skin (so little or no follicles) in the part where the goatee connects with the "side beard".
What do you mean with hair turning terminal? Either way, I didn't notice hair loss, facial or not.
If you're remotely good looking you probably look better without a beard.

Literally every other guy I know can grow a beard. I'm already seen as weak and effeminate. I'm never going to be a real man which is probably why girls have hardly ever been interested in me and probably never will be. I'm already old as shit. But like OP I didn't have much facial hair until I tried minoxidil. You just have to keep at it for like a year or so and you'll have decent gains.

I can't grow a beard either. It turns out too sparse. It looks like a normal 5 o clock shadow then turns out too thing when it gets long. We just don't have enough hair follicles on our face that are sensitive to DHT. You just gotta live with the cards you're dealt.
Get on finasteride. If you're going to kys anyway don't use the unlikely side effects as an excuse not to try it.

Beards are only for hobos and chinlets, if you have at least something resembling a jawline 90% of men look better clean shaven
Beards are for the lazy and unprofessional. Alternatively either low confidence in looks (onions) or chinlets. Nobody cares that you can't grow a beard and neither should you user.

my beard sucks, this pic is from 3 years ago when i wasn't working and really wanted to know if i could. my mustache comes in blonde. if i don't shave for 3 or 4 days only the neckbeard and sideburn are visibly stubbly from a distance, so i can never pull off the rugged camping trip look. and the worst part is my hair grows fast, i have to shave everyday even though the beard sucks
why do so many guys make a big deal out of it? I can grow a beard and for me it's quite inconvenient. If I don't shave I have to constantly managed it and if I shave it have to waste time and my skin always reacts negatively to it

I didnt start growing a noticable amount of cheek hairs until my mid 30's. Facial hair never stops developing. Give it time.
