Lifters were stronger back then

>lifters were stronger back then

youtu.be/hJ90qqbJZTg

this 179 lbs man power cleans 160 kg and then strict press it, today its a feat only achieved by over 230 pounds freaks like koklov

olympic weightlifters were stronger back then even stronger pound for pound, we are in the onions era since the 90's

who the fuck changed s oy for onios what a fags

Werent the Soviets on super roids?

the soviets were on super steroids and the testing was way worse than it is today. no point comparing.

cause steroids dumb fuck

>Nandrolone was probably among the first AAS to be used as a doping agent in sports in the 1960s. It has been banned at the Olympics since 1974.[16]:128 There are many known cases of doping in sports with nandrolone esters by professional athletes

no shit athletes would be bigger and stronger if they didn't have to worry about being clean for tests

If you actually think Ameican athletes were natty you're delusional. The real difference between American and Russian weightlifters was that Soviets paid their athletes a salary, gave them top tier coaching, medical staff, etc. It was essentially their job to lift.

excuses

nowadays athletes are using better steroids than the russians did 50 year ago

people here whorship 400 lbs roid fatmonsters like eddie

the truth is all of them would get crushed by guys like vasily alexeiev

youtu.be/r_cBtKQ5y8k

this man could do 32 consecutive pull ups at 350 lbs bodyweight

everyone roid at the olympics still, just admit strenght peaked in the 50-70s nowadays eveb /fiticens larpers roid its not that hard to pass a test

athletes nowadays are BIGGER but not stronger

you're so dumb

there's a difference between fucking blasting as much gear as you can get a hold of vs having to stop using weeks prior/switching to lesser detectable shit for the event

youtube.com/watch?v=8COaMKbNrX0

Look at this newfag.

>layback press
>strong

Fuck off faggot, this twink could not get even close to a 500lb clean and jerk like klokov

excuses again

>everyone roid at the olympics still

not true at all, it's not the 90s anymore. You're such a mongoloid if you think olympic athletes today are blasting

>Stanozolol and other synthetic steroids were first banned by the International Olympic Committee and the International Association of Athletics Federations in 1974, after methods to detect them had been developed.[46]:716 There are many known cases of doping in sports with stanozolol by professional athletes. Stanozolol is especially widely used by the athletes from post-Soviet countries.

what makes more sense, that people from the 50s-70s are somehow genetic human outliers from the last 200 years, or that the Olympics only banned steroid use in 1974??????????????????

Let's see that 90 IQ in action

The top lifters in the world were taking drugs 50 years ago, and the top lifters are taking drugs now. That part of the discussion is a wash

you're fucking wrong, though

everybody takes drugs when they're not being tested, but they all come off/switch their cycles up to the event. The difference is back then they didn't have to hop off, they kept blasting all their shit, while athletes today have to get off/find a way around testing, and that makes a huge difference

Quit parroting the retarded meme that professional athletes are blasting all the gear they want their entire careers

im done; your IQ is actually less than 90

I know this is weightlifting, but why is the press not included in powerlifting as well? It’s like the ultimate strength lift

because its a retarded sport

>you

Because you can't pad your numbers with the Press. You're either strong or you're not. Also the Press was removed from Oly Lifting so it's pretty moot

you're actually stupid to think that just because a steroid is newer and less detectable it's suddenly better. You also forget that testing is more rigorous now and especially since the IOC is really on the IWF's ass since so many athletes have been testing positive. I train with Olympians and I can tell you that it's not as easy as you retards think it is to pass random drug tests. If you want to be able to get tested less you have to go to Jamaica pre-2016 or any third world shithole or Russia.

Powerlifting was started with the idea of testing the big lifts that weren't in weightlifting.
Daddy Rip's "Strengthlifting" is the only comp I know that tests The Press these days.

Not pretending like this dude isn't crazy strong but if you think that's a strict press you're blind or retarded

maybe he strict STRICT pressed he could get close 150 kg wich is insane for a guy that weight

does each country has different testing methods ?

And training regimens that were 100% every damn day. DGAF if you got injured.

>this man could do 32 consecutive pull ups at 350 lbs bodyweight
Never confirmed.
I read a lot about him, seems like he liked to tell bullshit.

>strict press
no dumbass, those are push presses with extreme archs.

many lifters, and coaches claimed that, he was also seen jumping and his vert was insane given his bodyweight

>this man could do 32 consecutive pull ups at 350 lbs bodyweight
Ok we all know you're lying now kid

That press isn't anywhere near strict and they trained for it, klokov didn't.

oh yeah, all those constant world records by american athletes are just because of better training man. no single american athlete juices and the russians weren't singled out to make an example to act like the games were clean.

This, anybody whos looked into the history of strict pressing knows it got banned becuase lifters would use a double back bend technique that would let them "press" almost as much as they cpuld jerk
OP is dumb

>many lifters, and coaches claimed that
No, just no. I'm russian speaker, read a lot of about him, and actually lot of lifters and coaches say about him what I wrote
>he liked to tell bullshit
about his training methods. This was something like his sense of humour, all this things like underwater lifting.
But I'm not denying that he was superstrong.

Roid topic is debatable. But USSR was strong also because
1) sport was very popular in USSR lot of people were involved in sport games, even factories had their competitions;
2) USSR used scientific methods in sport training, Matveev invented periodization for weightlifting in 50-s, Chernyak wrote his fundamental work about weightlifting training in 70-s;
3) shit tons of GPP in childhood, multi year all-around training from 8 years old
4) also what this guy wrote but it was not that extreme as bulgarians did with their 8 hours training sessions.

>modern weightlifting
>press

lmao

Meanwhile, Lasha will snatch 4 red plates at Tokyo

>bends his knee
>strict press
Based retard first year lifter

>he doesnt know how far roid tech has advanced
>he still thinks testing isnt a joke

read or watch any interview by victor conte, the guy who ran BALCO and literally designed drugs for olympic athletes. they have a shitload of ways to avoid testing and remain undetectable

youtube.com/watch?v=t93U7NQb7LE

>Daddy Rip's "Strengthlifting"
That actually looks pretty cool.

Different countries have their own anti doping association. USA has USADA and Jamaica had JUSADA. JUSADA is a joke in comparison due to funding and some athletes would be tested maybe 2 times a year.
