Also from Jow Forums, 9mm is the best all around defensive carry round, if you need a tiny gun .380 works too. All handgun rounds do the same thing, you're stopping the threat by hurting vitals. Stopping power isn't a thing with pistol rounds. 9mm is going to give you higher capacity therefore a higher chance of hitting vitals, an easier to conceal gun, less recoil for follow up shots, and is going to be cheap to practice.
