Why is this so fucking hard to do?
Lateral Raises
Because you have weak shoulders
If you think lateral raises are easy you should increase the weight, fag.
FUCK me do I hate this shit
I feel my right shoulder always grinding and popping doing this. Not pain but I feel like something is wrong. Should I keep at it or drop them and try some other things?
I already tried bending over, external rotating my arm with thumbs pointing the ceiling...still grinding.
20kg DB 3x12
anyone do better?
Literally what is the point of this exercise? I never did them ever. Are there performance benefits /
What's the name of the variation of this when you don't just bring them straight to the sides, but up, with arms bent at 90 degrees? It's supposed to engage rear delts more.
BOULDER

SHOULDERS
it makes my shoulder hurts
:(
Exact same thing here. Im concerned.
you're probably double jointed
It's an inferior exercise. Do machine lateral raises whenever you can.
I started taking lifting seriously around 2 months ago. I can curl 35lb dumbbells but can only do 15lb incomplete lat raises, and not too many at that. Hoping to work my way up to curling 50 and doing 30 on lat raises.
thats going to be a "post body" from me
Would this be an acceptable substitution for people who can't do lateral raises? Doesn't hurt with this exercise. But I wonder if I'm using lateral delts at all
Post delts.
Maybe, MAYBE, you are an actual freak, but if this is even remotely true, check your form.
If you want to look like a chicken, then yes
fuck, I'm actually going to try this because I hate laterals
OP's pic is shit, lean forward slightly and bend arms.
Refer to Papa Jeff. Feels much better and is less conducive to getting sloppy on proper form.
Because it feels and looks weird so you are constantly evaluating.
I do something like this, but while bending over and after my front and lateral raises.
Concerned mother pose
Imo that looks like shoulder snap city for to me. I can't do dumbbell lateral raise for myself too, try a cable lateral raise with the thumb upwards. The weight distribution feels way more natural and the thumbs up decrease the strain on your shoulders.
>Autistic mode:
Imagine you are a migratory bird and if you don't complete them efficiently you will never make it to the breeding grounds alive.
Yeah I tried the bend over, thumbs up Jeff tips. It doesn't hurt but I feel something wrong in my shoulder doing them. Even bands do this. And I'm using 2 kg plates so it's not too heavy
This puts your shoulder in the exact same position as upright rows. Its basically upright rows with dumbells.
>Lanklet as fuck
>80 cm arms
>Lateral raises are hell everytime
Does it really matter if I keep my arm straight ? Can't I just bend them at the elbow ? It sorts of feels easier with the same weight.
Yeah I bet your curl form is great bro
kek could be worse
Yeah but I think it doesn't intrarotate so it should be less harmful?
kek
its called being a bitch
>shorter moment arm
>it feels easier
Yeah no fucking shit
Wow, very witty. What a wanker.
None really. Just OHP and do face pulls.
egolifting hip swinging obese manlet with short trex arms detected
do them with straight arms full range of motion (above shoulder height) and pause on top, no body swinging at all
Laterals are not the lifts where you brag with weight uses but with size of meat bro
I had kinda the same problem. This worked for me, but of course no guarantee it will work for others:
Get into a position like you would for barbell overhead press, chest forward shoulders locked back. Not much different then when you bench. It can be kinda difficult doing these in a OHP position if one is used to not having their shoulders locked so go down in weight a bit until the technique feels like the natural way to do them.
Small muscle being isolated unnaturally through a long range of motion at significant mechanical disadvantage. Do them anyway.
Use lower weight. I do 3x25 at 10kg.
That's the point surely?
Post shoulders
athlean x advocates these, ive had some noticeable gains since incoporating them into my routine
you got the manlet part right but that's it
I can do 17.5 for maybe 2x12, third set would be less.
Maybe. You're swinging your lifts towards the end, aren't you?
Anyone experience any carryover to the OHP?
I love OHPing but hate lateral raises
Hi Josh
Not really, LR are mainly for lateral delt size, OHP is mainly front delt strength
F=MgR
M= weight
G = gravitational acc = 10
R = radius = length of arm
Eg if you do 20 kg
F = 20×10×70cm
= 14000
14000=m×10
M= 140 kg
Meff = 140 kg
You pull 1400 kg when you do lat raise
Calculate the effective weight on the leg press please
F=mgrsinO
Sin90=1
Not diff O=|=1-90 you push almost same weight
Wait lemme calculate
I do delt raises (not sure it's called delt raises, the one with dummbells) on a bench and I dont really feel it in delts, suggest me other delt exercises with dummbless apart from lateral raises or the chicken one
Don't bother doing them with heavy weight and momentum.
extremely based
>on a bench
You're doing chest flys lmao
Kek
Ahah no I mean I sit on the bench while doing the exercise
Here ya go
Don't worry about bad handwriting ima doctor
M=120
Stop being so fucking jealous of the dude jesus
I find that I have to have a barely perceptible bend in the elbows and consciously engage the right muscles or I get pain. That tendon gets really agitated from all the shoulder exercises I do.
your g is in m/s^2 and your r is in cm
Incredible, thank you
That's why I put meff =140 1400 was a mistake
g will now be in cm/s^2 in the fittness community
...
What am I doing wrong when I start feeling an itch in my lower back at count 15 or so?
You can say that about any lift though
Lateral delts nigga. Literally one of 4 muscles actually worth training for aesthetics
Swinging, but hyperextending back instead of hinging at the hips
nice
Good effort. How much do you press?
Tried them, definitely better than normal laterals
This is Jow Forums not /sci/
My bodyweight X1 RM - 72kg
20kg nigger?
I can do 22.5kg for 3x6
>unironically thinking he is a big boy
Somethings off with your look. Weak core and legs or maybe its just the shitty clothes. Either way work on whatever the case is.
stick to lower weights, and use resistance bands over the dumbells anchored under your feet. its good, its very good
what a twink-ass fucc-boi. you don't lift shit, nigger licker
those made me hurt my shoulders so I switched them for the same exercise but you hold your arms at 90 degrees - gives the same kind of "burn" musclewise so I figure ti works the exact same muscles, but without tearing them apart, at least in my experience
I get a sharp pain in my left trapezius when I do them, about four inches down my back. It feels like I'm being stabbed with a big needle. Is this a fucky tendon or something?
good luck doing it being 6'4 or more
Not hard, just boring as shit
Gonna need to see that 20kg 3x12 on a vid my guy. Betting 10 bucks you swing like crazy doing em
try doing , it spares your shoulders a ton of pain but is still a good exercise, especially when you do volume
even roid freaks use 10kg or under with 15+ reps, you're swinging it like a butterfly
this desu
The deltoid is a tiny, tiny muscle my man.
Try dropping the weight to 5 or 10 lbs, you'll find it is better feeling and you actually get a good pump from it.
Don't do it like this, watch AlphaDestinys video about it, otherwise you will fuck your shoulders up
NO SON OF MINE WILL BE ROWING UPRIGHT IN THIS HOUSE
LMAO at the jealous nigger replying to this post
I can do halfway lateral raises with that weight so gotta doubt you there bra.
Nice arms
Thank you for the momscience Stacy
You guys better not be pointing your thumbs to the ground when you do this.
Just point em up and make your body go forward so it hits your side delts
