Ankle fracture and fibula broken. Any med bros here can help me out. Is my fibula supposed to heal like that?
Before the break my lifts were
160kg squat
200kg DL
bodyweight 77kg at 6' height

That looks badly done.
It's not too bad in terms of pain being at a 2/10. 6 weeks of a cast and a few weeks of rehab and I should be back to work, the only thing I want to know will I be able to squat again. I can't run for 6 months
You'll never be able to go over 200kg squats
Sorry for your loss
If I can hit rep 140-160 for 8+ reps my legs should look pretty decent.
I could do that r-right?
SNAP CITY
Aren’t you sitting in medical office right now? Ask a professional. But I’m my opinion, no. Rods and pins aren’t conducive to proper to muscle development. Time to be an arms guy.
No, and they are far from professional. Our hospital was voted the worst hospital in our country. I've asked for advice and have had two different answers. One where I will return back to 100% in 6 months, the other, I will only just start to be able to run in 6 months, so it's hard to gauge
Ah that sucks man, RIP my dude
Ripperoni my crippled friend
Did you try asking your doctor something like:
>Mr. Doctor with a medical degree, you have seen my x-rays, can you tell me if I will be able to workout and lift heavy again?
instead of asking random shits on Jow Forums
even if this is true, in what shithole country do you live, that you cant trust your doctor
Why didn’t they line up and splint that second break?
What kind of retarded nigger hospital are you going to?
You could do even less and still be fine. Just change to a hypertrophy program. It sucks, but it would suck even more if you snap again and you end up with permanent damage. It looks bad enough as it is right now
Actualy user unless you go to a designated sport medicine physician many doctors will tell you that lifting heavy is generaly bad for you (because they just don't really know anything about it).
OP check out if you have proper sport phys in your area, that would be your best bet.
I broke my elbow over a year ago and can't do vertical pulling movements with that arm now. I wish you better luck.
>trusting drug dealers
Not him, but in my experience doctors aren't that trustworthy. That's not because they don't care about you, but because they don't have enough information about specifics. In my country most doctors refuse to do TRT because in their mind "T=steroids" and "steroids=bad". They also give opioids and benzos like crazy, even though they're addictive as fuck
Isn't there a difference between asking a doctor if you should lift heavy(working out) in general,
and asking a doctor if you will be able to pressure your ankles to an extent, because your foot broke in half and you just had surgery
>?
200 kg DL at 77kg 6` seems pretty good. You must have low body fat%. How long have you been lifting for?
He won't lift that ever again, don't make him go boomer mode
>back in my day I used to deadlift 200kg *sip* god I was strong back then *sip*
you are a strong skeleton
How old are you? Stop listening to these assholes, it’s going to be fine. Just let it heal.
t. Med student
Your an awful med student if you really believe that. You should know that you lose muscle mass while the bone is healing and then it's easier to snap again (because of the muscle loss, not because of the bone per se)
>be me in 8th grade
>complete fracture through tibia and fibula in soccer
>titanium rod and screws in tibia, fibula left to mend itself
>major nerve damage and opiate withdrawal problems
>titanium removed one year later
I wasn't a lifter at the time, but I started a decade later and it's not a problem. Actually that bone will heal back denser and stronger than your other leg.
MAJOR sympathy coming your way. That was the worst pain I've every experienced. I'd kill myself before doing that again. Good luck, my friend.
Are you serious? Of course he won’t be back to his previous lifts right away. It’s going to take a long time for him to build his strength back up. Fucking brainlet, I swear. May I ask you what you study?
Broke both my ankles on different occasions. Both times I used the gym for PT, took several months but I went from nothing back to 2 plate squats.
Medfag here. The fibula really doesn't do much. Your weight is supported by your tibia. Once everything heals you should be fine. The only wildcard might be those screws they have in you. I'm not sure how those may be affected by heavy lifting.
Should be ok, I have a screw in my ankle and it doesn't affect shit. Hurts on rare occasion when I'm running and that's about all.
Congrats on posting your personal info on the internet homie.
Guys, I need advice.
I hurt my wrist when punching a boxing bag, nearest to my little finger.
It hurts when I move my hand in specific ways or I lift something heavy.
The pain hasn't gone away for more than a month now, could I have broken something in my wrist?
Given the limited info he seems to be at Waterford University Hospital in Ireland, so he might a legit problem here.
This is why you wear wraps and gloves when hitting the bag, dumbass. Get it checked before it gets worse.
how did it happen homie
How the fuck did you know?
Mini digger drove over it. Luckily I was on broken trees and shrubs so it didn't actually crush the entire bone
I have a friend who crushed his ankle in a motorbike accident and theres basically nothing left there anymore and he says squats and diddies are fine, the only problem is mobility but you can stretch and warm up for that.
The file of the woman on the desk has a southern Ireland birth address, the exposed section of Manila envelope mentions Waterford which is nearby and Waterford University Hospital is a known shithole with that recent incident of keeping dead bodies in the open.
You're never safe on the internet
I only do bodyweight squats (one punch man routine) and my legs are getting HUGE
I did that a few years ago and am
totally fine now. Buck up Keith and really savour these weeks off once you learn to hop around and get shit done.
Get well, Keith.
You’ll be back.
We have faith
nice feet.
Ah yes. Maybe I should have been more vigilant before posting.
What kind of meds are you on, Keith? Fucking Percocets made me constipated.
Asprirn 75mg
Pantoprazole 40mg
Parceotemal
Nothing to write home about
Thanks guy for the positivey!
Thanks user for your input, does that fibia look like it's healing ok?
Thanks user
Really overwhelmed with this boards positivity. I'll be thinking of you and your words :)
I did similar fracture way back when I was like 14
Full recovery cause orthopaedics is advanced these days. This was back in 2012 so its probs improved since then.
now a pharmacist btw whats the reason for low dose aspirin assuming you're out of hospital? Potentially why you're coprescribed pantoprazole for risk of stomach ulcers? If not socialised healthcare its just an additional cost you might wanna consider
Rock on dudebro
From what I was told the aspirin is to reduce swelling if it occurs over night when I have the cast on and thus reduce the risk of a clot
yeah I'd expect that early/post surgery but these XR's are from near 2 weeks ago. But even still what country you in that doesnt just use clexane to stop DVT post-op (out of curiosity).
Aspirin has anti-inflammatory effect and antiplatelet effect which in essence stops the clotting cascade. Just be sure to keep an eye on your shits (look for black-tar like with foul smell) and if you get stomach pain as you really dont want a gastric ulcer because it sucks trust me.
Speedy recovery bro, in my experience swimming helps build muscle back once cast is off and is really low impact
What he meant was, break your other leg so the strength gains will be equal
Ireland. They have given me 4 weeks (56 tablets) supply at two a day. I haven't questioned it to be honest.
Thanks for the sound advice and I'm going to start going to the swimming pool once I'm out of this cast
>Putting a cast over an already fixed ankle fracture
>Somehow managing to break your syndesmotic screw
LEL
You will squat again just fine
>Is my fibula supposed to heal like that?
Your fibula looks crooked but (in AP at least) it actually is in a very good reduction 9/10 would not operate in
