looks stupid

better than nothing but I don't get the appeal.

One way ticket to snap city.

I did it for 2 months. My gf convinced me to join. It was alright. Not for me, though.
Pros:
>good coaches meant I got great form tips on squat, dl, and oly lifts
>great cardio
>fun atmosphere
CONS
>strength component was a joke
>weird cliques, especially the sport-track people
>bullshit pullups (I always did strict)
>cost ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FUCKING DOLLARS per month
>EVERYONE looked dyel as fuck, even the people who were "good" at crossfit
2 months was enough, we went to a comp and smashed it, now I'm back doing a powerlifting program at my $10/mo gym. If you need an atmosphere to get you motivated, it could be good. Honestly I can't hate on it too hard but it wasn't for me. I think I got pretty lucky with a chill gym and some good coaches.

Why aren't those things height adjustable?

Also, i remember crossfit being seen as a pussy training style since i ever first read about it on Jow Forums being ridiculed. I also don't really see the point of it all.

Calisthenics however i've gotten alot more respect for in the years, but i wouldn't try it myself, because again: when would you actually need it? Normal fitness + boxing would already be sufficient.

ZERO

Its cardio, really hard cardio where you pay $100+ per month to do it in a dirty warehouse with other people going at their own pace.

Similar experience except there were a few people who looked phenomenal.

Of course they were people who had been really in to fitness for 10+ years so not really sure thats a good bar.

Did some for about a year.

Really qualified coaches (half of them were bachelors of oly lifting and stuff from the uni that trains coaches for Russian olympic teams) who themselves compete both in Crossfit and other sports (mostly WMFC medieval swordfighting). The attention to my form and technique was alone worth the money (around $120/month).
Place was really rugged, but clean and well-equipped.
The crowd was diverse: from models (not instathots, but women with actual modeling careers) to HxC bulldykes to office guys like me to actual force pros (firemen, police SF). But everyone was generally friendly and humble, everyone put the work in and mainly competed agains themself or in small groups of similar fitness.

In less then a year I got from skinnyfat noob with no conditioning to 0,5/1/2/3 pl8 and sub-30m 5k run. Shame that I had to quit, really. As far as I know, the gym has grown since, opened 2 auxiliary gyms and keeps posting serious results both in Crossfit regionals and WMFC.

My uncle just fucked up his back for life doing a meme cross fit routine a few days ago using heavy weight.

Bumping.

I'm curious as it seems perfect for me as I enjoy Olympic lifting and have massive programming ADD. Also looking for some potential social gains as well.

Nice joke mate

user... thtat's extremely bad progress for that amount of time... especially given how much injury risk you were constantly putting yourself through. AND paying hundrds of dollars for it?

This is pretty much my experience, I did it for 3 months.
I see the point if you need a social component to get you to workout and you dont have a gym bro, but aside from that any gains you get from crossfit you could just as easily get from a good HIIT program at a normal gym.
Plus the risk of sustaining injury is way higher for crossfit. All of the guys I met that had been doing it seriously for years had gone through some kind of injury to get where they were. I dont think it's worth it.

Depends largely on the quality of coaches. I lucked out and got a superb coach who was legit strong and cared about form, for $50 a month.
The equipment was excellent, the community factor was a nice push for motivation. and it was my introduction to barbell training.
I left and pursued more conventional lifting eventually, but it was a great introduction for me.
If you're self-motivated, your form is good, you're not really looking for community, and on a budget, Crossfit's not really for you.
The only thing I thought it excelled at was endurance conditioning. That's probably why it's so popular with the military.

Check out Bro Science lad

A lot of my coworkers are into it. It seems okay if you're ready to join an exercise cult, but as far as results they don't deliver anything you can't get elsewhere.

It's like middle schoolers trying a new sport.
What keeps sponsors around?

crossfit started as a joke on the internet with fake exercises to troll normies, normies took it seriously and now the joke became reality

its a fad. and only cardio. you shouldnt perform complex lifts with terrible form from exhaustion unless you want to hurt yourself

>Cardio

Attached: crossfitmobile_01.gif (360x360, 1.6M)

I don't understand the yoke thing. It just looks like it'd be terrible for your back.

sure

>Your train to snap city is now boarding

Everyone I know who has done it for a while ended up injured badly. I'm too old to be doing crazy shit with shitty form.

it took you a year to OHP .5 pl8?

easier to make money off the normies if they do something in groups, doesnt matter if it doesnt make any sense or how much of a waste of time it is

imagine if jeff saw this

it's impossible to state how cringe crossfit is

it's like going to a Jow Forums meetup

Don't really care for it much but it looks like many of the people that compete in the crossfit games are in really good shape. it would also probably be a good place to meet women, so there's that.

He probably saw it

the retard engine appears to be firing on all cylinders

The quickest and most efficient way to get to Snap City.

After years of memeing about it I got sucked into starting it about half a year ago.

Honestly it's great. The coaching is supreme, gym has some of the best maintained equipment I've ever seen, and the other members are all solid dudes. I've honestly never felt more at home at a gym than I do there. And oly lifting is a shitload of fun.

Lots of the memery is pretty misunderstood. Like we train strict pull-ups (usually weighted) more than kipping pull-ups. The whole point of kipping is for competition: when you're trying to crank out max pull-ups for time, kipping wins every contest.

It's fairly expensive but you're paying for the coaching. The classes are usually about 10 members to one or two coaches. It's basically like half-assed PT, the coaches are all good shit and really know their stuff. The programming is on point, for both variety throughout the week and long-term cycles.

I pay $160/mo and hit average 6 classes a week.

tl;dr: it's expensive but if you have cash to burn it's totally worth it.

this seems like a great exercise to break your arms

If $160/month is that unaffordable, you really should find a better job.

My fiancée does CrossFit, and she did a Powerlifting meet for fun and hit 340/250/470 (1060 total) from doing 1 bench workout a week for 8 weeks on top of her usual CrossFit workouts. She can also snatch 107kg and c&j 125kg. CrossFit with high level coaching is excellent. With low level coaching it’s horrible though, high risk for injury and slow gains.

nothing better that having your own homemade gym lol

lmao

Love crossfit. Good coaches will help you with form, and good programming has lifting/strength portions as well as metabolic conditioning.

If you are aiming for weight loss, athleticism and improved physical performance, it's for you. If you just want muscle gain for looks, you probably want to focus on just lifting.

Lol right would have had way better results lifting and jogging

ITT: SHILLS

I saw a pack of crossfitters running with weighted vests on the other day i thought it was pretty funny

Crossfit, much like Zumba, should only be performed by the elderly, infirm, and womeme.

maybe i don't want to spend 160 on a meme

That can' t be good for the knees

Yes

jesus christ what the fuck

>she

youtube.com/watch?v=Q7tiLCn8z-8
I fell for this meme workout and boomers in the gym said I'm doing crossfit, were they right?

the pregnant woman is giving me anxiety

Sold gear to pay for my college debt (double major ,pharmacy and nutrition)

>bachelors of oly lifting
WHAT?

did it once and my body snapped in two

We know that ain't true bro

pretty gay. you can do the same shit without all the marketing and instagram hype. literally just do calisthenics after you're done your main lifts and then go do cardio after you're done that

all the pros are on gear and the women are varbies with fridgebodies

yeah but if you're doing kipping pull ups for time, you're not really doing a single pull up. similar to how world record push up dudes just jerk their torso up and down really fast.

This is always a retarded argument to justify spending your money on something.

It's not the fact that it's 160 dollars, it's the fact that it's a retarded way of spending your money when you can better spend it on shit like gym equipment and running shoes or a normal gym membership.

some coaches are good some are bad

idk but be wary of getting ripped off
an old friend of mine who im not in contact nowadays posts vids and photos of him running a crossfit course.
the normies in his course look like shit, do unsafe stuff and dont work all of their muscles
this friend himself is just low bf %, has abs and a bit of biceps, 0 delts, traps, shoulders, back, legs... absolutely nothing, so if you really consider crossfit, look for trainers that actually look good

I do CrossFit because I like to vary my training.

I think I'm fitter and stronger than 99,99% of Jow Forums but you guys still think being fat as fuck and low bar squatting 250kg and not knowing how to do a 60kg overhead squat is impressive...

120 snatch 150 CJ
210 back squat
250 deadlift
110kg strict press
12'05 4000m run

86kg BW

My workplace offers one free practice a week so I take advantage of it for cardio.
Goofy, but it's a nice group activity and I hate cardio to death so it beats running.

I've never actually joined up but from what I've seen
>Former military/athletes/serious dudes doing all sorts of extreme shit, looking jacked as fuck and making it look good
>DYEL from all walks of life on a one-way ride to snap city
I'm sticking to my cheap gym as I don't want anything to do with half-assed workouts leading to injury and I am in no way up to the task of completely murdering myself trying to keep up with jacked dudes.

Fuck, she's perfect

What the actual fuck are those?!

Upper body cardio brah

I kinda wanna join just so i can utterly mog the instructors and pick up qts

you cant vary your training without crossfit?

Attached: piccolodad.jpg (282x178, 13K)

i think youve missed the most important thing about kipping pulls, its not even a real exercise because youre not working your muscles.

youre only using the range of motion for the purpose of speed without adding strain to your muscles, whats the competition in something where youre not even pushing yourself ?

sure, it might be given a green flag for cardio purposes but nothing at all in terms of improving your strength or adding size.

Depends, but that means it's mostly garbage.

It's just one more instance of repackaging a bunch of common exercises and workouts with a "twist", and turning it into a brand to sell formations and products (see Reebok). It was created by a guy that really didn't knew much on the subject, being coached all his life and never actually coaching anyone, who made money, and is now a fatty. Yes, he's a fatty, you read right. Initial formation of "Official Crossfit Instructors" was expensive and bad, there were no prerequisites, and it wasn't enough to turn anyone into a "coach". And don't even get me started on $50 crossfit tshirts that are half the price without the crossfit logo.

Some of the core principles are:
>Crossfit is HARD, you're here to SUFFER!
Which is stupid, hurting you is never a good idea.
>We don't put mirrors in our rooms because we're not fucking sissies looking at their bodies!
Okay, not too bad, but still, that's not why they're there, the point is goof form.
>We do reps as fast as possible, and as many as possible!
Because who cares about form, TUT, peak hypertrophy, or anything of the like, we're here to hurt ourselves with exercises done to failure and beyond!
>We do 50 olympic lifts in a row lol!
Something that takes quite a lot of training to get a proper form, taught by bad coaches, who don't care if you injure yourself. Sounds neat. It's just one of many technically complex exercises they do.
>our program is so random like us lmao!
It really is random, not to mention, a lot of it attempts to train endurance with shit like burpees, it just doesn't work. Oh, and obviously there's no push/pull/legs logic, and you sometimes have to perform heavy weight exercises targeting the same muscle group three days in a row, and then people obviously injure themselves.

Attached: file.png (853x672, 639K)

Now, things have slightly changed: actually good coaches have come, gyms look more like real gyms, there's a bigger emphasis on form, and few ever care about the official "Workout Of the Day", they have their own. The only thing that remains is, they still call this "crossfit", when it's not crossfit anymore, and it still costs and arm and a leg for shit you could do on your own, because it's just Tabata applied to calisthenics, though it's more exercise than training. It's not bad, but really, there's many different ways to train and you shouldn't just stick to one, nor believe one is superior to all others, and that's what Crossfit pretends.

If you really want to do crossfit, find good coaches that don't do real crossfit.

(male)

It's elitist circle jerk culture for normies with low self esteem. Crossfit is designed around making people feel like more than what they really are, so i guess it's no wonder why it's so popular these days. Dyels will dress up in their branded clothing and pay 200$ to LARP as an athlete a couple times a week.

>$200/month
>only 3 classes per day
>only 1 hour of open gym
Ntyvm

Its nice because its all free weights and bodyweight exercises
Just dont let anyone meme you into doing any heavy weight "for time"
If they yell at you to go faster than what feels safe, just keep going the same speed and do what you want.

wheyfus > varbies
proof me wrong

Underrated

Also get ready for everyone to be an insecure dickhead.
Literally inhale their own farts and brag about their quarter rep times all day

this one actually isn't crossfit, it's regular middle aged spirit hippies.
it's from a docu called North of Molkom or something like it. it's pretty nice, lot of heart in it.

It’s gay and lame and full of hipsters and women.

Looks fun

>doesn't get the point
Your poor mentality is showing

Imagine being this retarded

its designed to make money of the normies whos too insecure to go to a gym alone since crossfit creates these social circles to keep normies training in groups.

when i started training when i was 13 years old, there was barely nobody ever there at all and gyms were crazy cheap, nobody bats an eye or even flinch if someone heard a plate dropping a little louder than usual etc.

now gyms are flocking with people in groups and workplaces making deals with the local gyms etc, everyones wearing pristine condition clothing to the gyms, everyones smelling like flowers and get all emotional if theres a grunt in the near distant.

this is crossfit, a way of making more money and turning physical training into a hippie movement full of vegans and people who dont really like training deep down in their hearts, just follow the trend because everyone else is doing it

this

You guys crossfit? You can crossfuck off

Lol, no she can’t. Fuck off.

The powerbuilding brapqueen varbies that crossfit uses for its marketing are probably the only good thing about it.

The only useful WODs I've seen posted are basically just supersets that regular lifters do anyways. That and russian style kettlebell swings.

what if you are in college

this desu

this

I go, but my gym periodizes workouts and has lots of options for doing straight strength options.

And the male coaches are all fuckin ripped.

It's a joke

I'm fucking dying here

No gains.

ig: feikewelter

I like both but I don't disagree.
