My friend asked me if I could come up with an athleat who is on the same level as a sumo and I just can't. This guy is the ultimate combination of power and functional strength. Plus he is way more ripped than most athletes who focus on such as NFL lineman. This guy spends all day literally picking up and throwing around 500-pound guys who are trying to stop him from doing it. Plus I just can't think of anyone who has the strength he has and is built as opposed to the Heil of shapeless Play-Doh that most strong men are.

>Line backers? Max Bloat powerlifters?Max bloat Strong men?
i love football but most blitzing linebackers get taken out by a 200lb running back and don't stand a chance against a 300lb lineman. Maybe powerlifters but the basicky can only do a few lifts very well and are no where near functional strength.
>functional strength
What does that even mean? If you’re strong, you’re strong.
there's lot of guys who can move big weights on gay hammer strength machines and literally cannot even do a push-up, much less put on their shirts without shoulder pain
It means that is useful in multiple diferent actions as apposed to someone who is great at one particular lift or one specific action. Like how a arm wrestling champion will destroy most anyone at arm wrestling but his strength is only useful for that as apposed to a big old farm boy who can beat most everyone in town arm wrestling but also is just all around stronger than anyone esle in almost any measurable way.
is that guy full japanese or half or something?
what a beast
how do i train sumo in the US? my childhood dream was to be a sumo wrestler--yes, i was obese as a child.
If this is attractive then I've literally already made it and I'm done cutting
He is from Georgia the country. I believe it was a former part of Russia or was right along the border of Russia
that is tochinoshin he is georgian.
will be ozeki again next basho
There are not a lot of places where you can train Sumo. If you look up USA Sumo I believe they list the few places I know there are some in California. Japan is really pushing for it to become an Olympic event so they are trying to build up Moore schools / competitions in countries like the US that have a bigger pull with the Olympic committee's
Doesn’t change the fact that if you’re strong, you’re strong. There’s no such thing as ‘functional strength’.
pretty sure strongmen would be better at sumo if they practiced it and bloatmaxxed even more

wish there was more cool stuff like this
>when you can't maintain your topknot you have to retire
>no baldies allowed
doubt you're as big as him
If you spent even a single day doing any kind of physical labor, you would realize how stupid you sound.
I've done manual labour for 12 years and I'm fucking strong as fuck. It's just certain things I can do better than others. For instance, my deads and OHP and squats are way better than my bench and my rows. Don't say retarded shit like this. You're just letting everyone know you haven't done one bit of manual labour
Come up with a better argument, cause I do manual labor too. If you’re strong, you’re strong. Simple as that.
How I miss Asashoryu...
Fact: Sumos have no stamina. They are powerful yes, because their matches are handful to a dozen or so seconds long allowing them to expend all their energy. The longer a sumo match goes on the more sapped and drained the wrestlers rapidly become. Your NFL lineman can work the entire 4 quarters slamming again and a again into the other team; I highly doubt taking a sumo wrestler and putting him in gear and on the field could last the entire game.
Bonus fact: Sumos die very early on, living 60-65 years on average, dying 10 years earlier then the average Jap, so sumos have fat people problems as well.
>trying to brag about doing manual labour
oh noooooooooooo hahahah
>trying to brag
Hardly bragging, it's just the truth
>if you're strong you're strong
Yeha I have some genetic advantages (stocky, tall, big chest and legs) but you can't fucking say for a second that 12nyears of manual labour hasn't made a difference. I even noticed different levels of strength depending on the work I was doing. I worked at a timber mill for 2 years and I weighed 125kg (I'm a bit of a unit) at about 20% bf. I could do pushups non-stop and I absolutely destroyed niggas on the footy field.
Enough with the cope you weak faggots
Because their matches are so short it takes a retarded amount of skill to throw and engage in sumo. This isn't a sport that's ruled by whose strongest/heaviest/quickest, there's a lot of skill and technique involved. Youtube Takanoyama, a sumo that's frequently outweighed by his opponents but has won more matches then you'd think a guy his size would have.
>American
>Georgia the country
>I believe it was a former part of Russia
Holy fuck do Muricans actually speak like this?
Professional strongmen are everything which you described and more.
Also Halfthor weighs probably 150 pounds more than the guy you posted and is leaner/surprisingly fast for a man his size.
Absolutely based and redpilled
Sumo is the final redpill
The P E A K physique and strenght
Also their ligaments are fucked.
This guy can snatch 90% of Jow Forums into space
Any idea where I can watch Sumo tournaments online?
Jason's all sumo channel, nattosumo, just look through youtube
god americans are fat and retarded
>The P E A K physique and strenght
Life fast and die young.
Do not see many very old former Sumo.
>guy with a 75lbs advantage gets BTFO in seconds
is this truly the greatest combat sport?
Kintamayama or something like that YouTube channel posts the days event too.
Idiot fucking burger
t. Butthurt Georgian
I just love this idea that everyone in the world needs to be some kind of global geographical/sociopolitical expert of things totally irrelevant to any of their needs, goals, or interests, or else they're "retarded".
To be fair, you and OP posted the two good looking sumoringers.
Sure, the others are just as strong but most look flabby and quite disgusting.
This guy is a much better example of "functional strength" than any sumo wrestler in the world. Runs a 4.6 40 at 285 and benched 225 35 times. He could prob outlift most sumo wrestlers and beat their asses in an actual fight.
They were part of the Sovjetunion, colloquial often refered to as the Russians, so you were actually correct. And before that they were part of the Russian Empire.
Larry is so hopped up on roids. He's clearly gifted, but his lifts would drop by 40% if he wasn't on gear.
It's like you don't know what Strongman is.
Terry has podium'd, I think, nine times. Even after he cut all that retard weight from rugby, he was still killing it.
It's amazing how much force sumo wrestlers generate upon initial contact. I believe a physicist measured that the average impact of force between two professional sumo wrestlers was 11G's.
Worth mentioning in this discussion, are sumos on roids? I know "every proffessional athlete is" and so on, but are sumos as a rule? Is there a notable difference in sumo size now than say 60 years ago? Obviously professional strongmen are stronger than sumos/linebackers are faster with more endurance, but we know all these guys are juiced to the gills. How does a natty sumo compare to natural athletes of other sports seems relevant.
based blowdryer bro
How was that pizza the other day? Looked good.
Strong overall is obviously strong, but there are strong-guy things you can only do once you've worked at that thing for a while, year after year. For example most car stuff, especially in repairing old cars, require old time strong guy things. I'm willing to bet your stupid ass 4pl8 deadlift won't budge an old car's wheels, or carpentry stuff. I worked at both and have a 4pl8 deadlift.
t. weak faggot cuckold trying to role play on Jow Forums. get lost, pussy.
>pretty sure strongmen would be better at sumo if they practiced it and bloatmaxxed even more
LMAO no way, sumo is also martial art, lot of sumoists have base in judo or greco roman wrestling
It's him not knowing Georgia is also a state in the US combined with your awkward phrasing about not being sure if Georgia was a bloc country or not. Perfect storm.
But yes, you really should know basic geography. Just knowing Georgia is in eastern Europe is enough. Nobody expects you to point it out on a map.
>Georgia
>in eastern Europe
Nigga transcaucasia IS europe
Lmao, no, the Caucasus Mountains are the border between Asia and Europe. Georgia is not European.
Manual labour definitely has made a difference but just think how many guys are "labourers" when all they do is 30min-1hour of manual labour a day and then sit in trucks and get fat as fuck. The majority of people who work manual labour are average strength and low IQ who justify being lazy pigs because they mowed a lawn earlier in the day.
Doesnt stop Sören from wanting to include Georgia in the EU
Well actually part of northern georgia lies in northern caucasus thus making georgia partly in Europe. Even so border between asia end Europe does not exactly go qlomg the caucasus mountains but actually follows underground waters, if that is a case then western georgia is also in europe.
that's not Larry wheels lol
it's Aaron Donald, a footbal player
They have insane stamina. They train 6 hours a day without stopping. The reason they get smoked is because, like sprinting, a match should be as close to 100% efffort as possible. Your argument is like saying Usain Bolit doesnt have stamina because he starts to slow down at the end of the 100 meters.
Rikishi collide with crazy speed and impact carrying hundreds of pounds on them against someone with the same weight. Tochinoshin regularly picks up 350+ pound dudes by their mawashi and carries them out of the ring. You need insane strength and stamina do do this.
As to your bonus fact that is usually due to them not losing the weight and continuing to drink copious amounts of beer. You know who else dies young? Wrestlers and football players. Rikishi who get into good shape and stay away from partying and booze tend to have normal jap lifespans.
Football players die early too man.
There have been bigger btfos, search for Mainoumi and Enho
>Fact: Sumos have no stamina. They are powerful yes, because their matches are handful to a dozen or so seconds long allowing them to expend all their energy. Each play in the NFL is only a few seconds, then it's a few minutes to reset everyone for the next, so is it really that different? Something like rugby would have been a better contrast.
>he measures strength through push ups
>nigga
Yikes why do low IQ niggers even come on this board?
Resetting over and over takes stamina. Think of it like a car, which one requires more gas, the car that drives 10 minutes straight or the car that drives 1 minute, stops, turns off, turns back on and repeats?
>As to your bonus fact that is usually due to them not losing the weight and continuing to drink copious amounts of beer.
I reiterate: fat people problems.
Why do upper tier sumos only have 1 match a day? Why can't they have more then one match a day? Are you saying that they need 24 hours to recover from 30 seconds of 100% exertion?
Fun fact, Tochinoshin's thighs measure in at 90 cm each! (~35.5 inches for the Amerilards in here). That's roughly the same as the average man's waist!
Imagine what it would feel like to be sandwiched between those haha.
Oh boy I would never be thinking about that in my mind lmao
Sumo isn't just too guys running into each other and seeing who is bigger or stronger. Grappling techniques and ring awareness are incredibly important.
Enho (99kg) vs Chiyomaru (193kg)
>guess who wins
Sumo is great and all, but they certainly lack the upper body strength, they are strong as fuck from waist down though, overall I think strongmen wreck sumo in terms of overall strength
based blowdyer man
also post body because i see your shit around here constantly
>an athlete that doesnt need upper body strength as much as lower doesnt have it
remind me how cyclists have small biceps too
pic related was benching 200kg for many reps easily, from a news report
Sumo is such kino
>that laughing asian grandpa at 0:21
I dunno why but seeing old people being really happy makes me happy too
also functional strength includes stuff like grip strength, ability to finely manipulate heavy objects (not just lift them), strength at awkward angles or in awkward positions, etc.
yeah lol and why do powerlifters take a week off after a big meet like they only lifted heavy stuff for like 30 seconds total haha
Sumo is the epitome of lift big, eat big, get big. And concidering if you look at pictures of sumo wrestlers from the early days of picture photography before steroids they where just as big and strong then as they are now. Showing that it is one of the few sports where steroids do not run rampant and that they are just as strong as the roided out Profesional athletes of other sports like football and powerliftets/strongman compettetors.
