Cocoon Mode

Just moved into my apartment in Cheyenne, WY, don't know a single person in the area. I'm going to be focusing all of my time on improving myself every way I can. 2 questions I have before setting out on this journey:

>Best way to incorporate swimming into a strength training regiment?
I had the opportunity to swim in the middle of the Pacific last year, and it made me realize I can't swim for a long period of time, so this is my biggest weakness fitness-wise.

>Tips on meal prep and general cooking?
No longer have my roomate's wife cooking us glorious grandma-learned recipes, so now I gotta git gud in the kitchen.

Thanks in advance brahs, we all gonna make it.

Pick up a martial art so you don’t have zero contact with the outside world. Isolating yourself too much fucks with your head

why the fuck would you move to wyoming

Not any schools I'm interested in around here, but I have previous martial arts experience, so I train on my own. I've also been doing parkour for almost 12 years now, so that will be my social outlet.

Got the job as I got out of the Navy and didn't want to look for another job when I got back from Greece.

Ya for sure. I have found that meditation helps you get a handle over the weird mental effects. The physical effects remain though and you just have to get used to them.

I've been working on my meditation more as of late, so I can see what you mean.

Lift every other day, cardio on the off day. Swimming counts as cardio

Good for bulking (has growth hormones in it) and bad for cutting

I am not fond of cooking so I buy everything i eat in bulk and have 2 days a week or so where i cook in big batches. I have 1 or 2 two quart containers of each of the following cooked and ready to go in my fridge at all times:

Protein (chicken breast being my favorite)
Starchy carbs (sweet potatoes + carrots)
Rice (usually brown)
Greens (broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, asparagus)

Using a slow cooker, rice maker, and steaming your veggies are all great ways to save time and cook a lot of food at once. Every time i need a meal I just weigh out the meat, add however much rice or potatoes, and lots of greens. Oatmeal in the microwave and 3 or 4 eggs in the morning is my go to for breakfast. Not fancy but like i said i dont get fancy in the kitchen and eating the same things every day doesnt bother me. Ymmv

If you really think you can compensate isolation with meditation you've been alone for too long.

What the fuck is quark.

The best possible dairy.
500g have 300 cals and 60g of protein.
The protein is mostly whey and casein.

Thanks for the tip, I wasn't sure how tough on the body swimming and lifting the same day would be.

Appreciate the feedback, I was thinking of getting a slow cooker!

For swimming you can also practice swimming without using arms and swimming with only arms for a harder challenge.
Its practice just in case as well

>don’t know anyone
>want to improve myself every way i can
I hope that means meeting people and making friends, user. It’s often ignored and proven to reduce general health.

I'm looking forward to meeting people, since the closest people I know are down in Colorado.

All these recipes are fitness related however, as most were created for Jow Forums, by Jow Forums, not to mention a lot of these focus on protein and/or contain whey in the ingredients

This and go church on Sundays too

Don't go full cacoon mode
Put more effort into socializing.
It might feel like a choir but it necessary for your well being. Just like getting fit you get used to it and begin to like aspects of it. Don't let your social skills atrophy.

I'm looking at these recipes.
Don't use them.
Get a copy of Americas Test Kitchens cooking school or Kenji Lopez's food lab

I'm a Buddhist, but was raised Christian, and since that's a big thing around here, I was thinking of getting involved with a church to at least socialize.

For me, cocoon mode is more of me not staying in touch with those back home as much and focusing on my immediate surroundings instead.

>meal prep
Go get some chicken thighs, rub olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and rosemery on them and bake in the oven with sliced golden potatoes and asparagus. It’s good to buy a ton at a time since thighs are normally fairly cheap, I usually have 3 days worth each time I cook.

Separate the asparagus and potatoes from the chicken when baking, thighs excrete a lot of juice when cooking it’ll boil everything around it

Cocoon mode is an incel meme. All it does is create a socially awkward geek in the body of a Chad, and it doesnt even help her the body of a Chad, in fact being social while trying to become larger is probably better due to the test boosts and increased confidence

facts

>Cocoon mode is an incel meme.
this board is dead

That sounds good af

Why are you in Cheyenne? Oil industry? I live in CO but find myself in Cheyenne every month or so.

Buy an instantpot pressure cooker.
