1999
this is some virgin shit. anyone who thinks this picture is legit needs to go have sex right now.
today
Reading is unnatural and books were designed by the government to destroy your eyes.
Never, because I actually can afford books.
I have an app on my phone that lets me take out and read 5 books at a time so even when I do go to the library it’s not even for books. App is Libby if anyone is curious.
A rare based post on Jow Forums.
I buy books from my backlog as I read them. Currently on The Plantagenets by Dan Jones. Very entertaining read and well-documented. It makes Game of Thrones look like child's play
R9kucks are fat
Reading is cope. Someone who fails at life compensates the lack of real life experience with thoughts of other people about something no one gives a shit about. And of course they just want to look interesting.
No need for a library Jow Forums, got you covered here
See the last link and the imgur one for guides if you don't know where to start

HOLY FUCKING BASED
>try to get back into reading classic literature
>managed to grab a dostoevsky book for 1€ at my libraries sale (they sell books for 1€ that people don't seem to want I guess)
>notice my attention span is absolutely fucked
>can't read more than 5 pages before doing something else like going on Jow Forums or browse the web otherwise
>frustrates me so much i haven't read in 3 days at all
i wish i could go back to when i was awake at 1am because a book was so damn captivating
Based and fitpilled
I dom't like to borrow books, I prefer to buy my own. Have quite a few.
About three or four years ago. I tend to buy my own books.
Currently finishing The Karamazov Brothers. I'll read For Whom the Bell Tolls for a nice change of pace after. After that it will be Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.
Pic related, that's 2/3rds of my books.
Nice, tnx for sharing user
Enjoy Hemingway’s work, I found it very good.
Also mirin that collection
this some good shit user, now to spend the next two days downloading them all
To be fair Dostoevsky is pretty challengung even for people who read quite a lot. I got halfway through the Brothers Karamazov and put it down too long, so I can't keep up with it anymore.
Find something that does pull you in and start there. If you've never read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, that's a pretty good one. It's not very dense and you'll actually think about what's being said.
>would love to name a son Marcus in honor of the man but it's such a black name nowadays he would just look goofy being called that
Don't know how I feel about this.
Books are for nerds. Gtfo nerds
The Brothers Karamazov is very heavy, but it's simply amazing.
My god this is like the fucking library of Alexandria.
Wait people actually struggle with Dostoevsky?
Don't be pretentious, user. For people that don't read quite a bit yes, Dostoevsky is a little hard to get absorbed in.
Especially since some people don't really grasp that for some stories, it's not just the plot you're supposed to pay attention to, it's what's being said by the author through the story.
Our based savior.
A while. Started reading again recently after years of hiatus, couldn't finish "The Origin of Species" because I'm a brainlet, but just finished Deadeye Dick today. Going to head to the library today, any recommendations? My focus is still pretty bad, I'm trying to read for 1 or 2 hours a day on average.
Yes, especially people in today's world. A lot of the ability to read, and the love for it, is fostered in school when it is required. Nowadays most teachers are on cookie cutter lesson plans where students can look up the plot, quotes, meanings, themes, etc. for all school reading online. I am 24 and I bet a terrifying number of people in my age range haven't actually read any real literature since they discovered Sparknotes and the like. Dostoevsky is a tough author when the standard is J.K Rowling and summaries of literature written by college students for money.
