How do you all deal with nostalgia? I got in a goosebumps thread on lit and it made me sad realizing how long its been since I read those, and how long its been since I was a kid, I was comin close to tears
What do I do to deal with the pain? Also goosebumps thread I guess
How do you all deal with nostalgia...
Maybe write your own dorky horror novels.
I don't know man. I remember I was reading a Goosebumps book at my parent's cabin while looking up at a frog on the window when I first heard that Princess Diana got in a car accident on the news.
I dont think thatll fix it, might be worth a shot though
>I remember I was reading a Goosebumps book at my parent's cabin while looking up at a frog on the window when I first heard that Princess Diana got in a car accident on the news.
That sounds pretty comfy, aside from Diana dying. I used to read them all the time as a kid. In my room, or at school. I read quite a few of them, even though they were goofy I liked them
buy them off ebay or amazon you greasy nigger
i miss scholastic catalogues
user I still have some. May have to pop one open
same. I used to always fill out for book orders in school
goosebumps is ultimate comfy, loved them as a kid, loved the tv show too
horrorland was 10/10
Read some Deltora Quest and Artemis Fowl instead.
I remember reading one about this weird mirror. I forget all about it other than at the end his brother who was left handed threw a baseball with his right hand and he realized that he had the mirror dimension brother.
>horrorland was 10/10
Did you ever read the second one from the 2000 books? Was kinda nice getting a sequel
>Read some Deltora Quest and Artemis Fowl instead.
Never read those. I remember seeing Artemis Fowl in the school library though I think I might have actually checked one out but never read it
That sounds familiar, was it this one?
i think so Jason sounds like the right name
Wait actually no it is this one. I remember liking the book but i was a dumb kid so i don't know if i can recommend it.
fuark ima reread these. the one about the summer camp with a lake was my favorite one. pic not related
I remember that cover. I don't remember reading it, but I remember his brother from the mirror being different, maybe I did read it
Any recommendations I have for these are based on vague memories, its been a long time
Pic related was the first one I ever read. Its not my favorite, but it was interesting. Kid would fall asleep in his bed and wake up in a different reality
>fuark ima reread these
Im probably gonna have to. Itll interrupt some of the more serious stuff Ive been reading but meh
UGH this one was freaky
goosebumps and animorphs
Never read that one. What happened?
cool ass cover too, gr8 choice
this one was fucking 10/10
Off of vague memories this one is a choose your own adventure and was absolutely kino
i barely remember. i think it was a family legacy story. but i think the protag was a girl i forget tho
ya i had it and read it many times. what a mind fuck those endings were
i had like 20 goosebumps books i never read any
oh yeah. its one of those "what a twist!" endings
I think that one was just a regular book. Was a good one though
There were choose your own adventure books though. I read some of them.
>tfw was trying to find someone with a specific name and it was either a kid or some chick in a red dress
>Go with chick cause I think she could be hot and had coke.
>its a trap
no its a choose your own adventure one. i think it was the first one
Most were. As a kid though I enjoyed them
>no its a choose your own adventure one.
Wait this actually sounds right now. I cant remember. Its been decades. There was more than one horror land book and I cant remember
Is there a reason why or did you just never get around to it?
My life is literally me indulging in nostalgia almost non-stop. It is why that boomer meme even took off. Too many of us are nostalgic and don't want to move on.
Its a viscous cycle for me
I think of the future and I think it hopeless so I push it away
I focus on the present and I grow tired of it, hate it even
The past remains locked away for eternity, yet I seek it all the more
>It will just kill you
Kek, least clever tagline ever
The tag lines were always goofy, that was part of the appeal I think
I like it
Reminds me of the Just fuck my shit up meme
This was my favorite by far. I was just so amazed by everything that happened. You got like 5 kids who just lived by themselves for eternity. Then down below you have a mob who has gone absolutely mad of like 20 insane kids. It was just so powerful.
>You got like 5 kids who just lived by themselves for eternity. Then down below you have a mob who has gone absolutely mad of like 20 insane kids. It was just so powerful.
I wanted to read this one as a kid, but never got around to it. Sounds like one of the better ones
i loved it so much
Seems I missed quite a few based on the ones in this thread.
I remember reading
>Monsterblood
>Night of the Living Dummy
>The Haunted Mask
>You Can't Scare Me! (dont think I finished it)
>One Day at HorrorLand
>Monster Blood II
>The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight
>Go Eat Worms!
>Monster Blood III
>Night of the Living Dummy II
>The Barking Ghost
>The Haunted Mask II
>How I Got My Shrunken Head
>Night of the Living Dummy III
>How to Kill a Monster
>Don't Go to Sleep!
>Monster Blood IV (actually read this one before the others 3 because it came back in at the school library first)
Thats all from the main line. I read snippets of a few others but didnt finish them
very based thread. I remember reading every Goosebumps book from the school library I could. I also remember 2 cyoa Goosebump books I read at a family gathering while i was bored out of my mind. One was about egypt and the other about some malicious magician
I loved those choose your own adventure books.
I'm tempted to read those all over again.
Like that circus one.
Man that was fun.
>tfw stayed up all night reading that Goosebumps book about the girl who goes to camp, but it's fucked up and haunted.
>has bullshit ending where protagonist is still being tormented by a ghost
>so scared I start crying and saying mommy
>mom comes to check on me and reassures me it's not real
thanks mom
