Workout while sore

I was always told not to workout while you're sore from a previous workout, but I stay sore for three and four days at a time. Is it really an issue to workout while sore, or was I always told wrong?

If it's just soreness it's fine, go ahead and workout
If it HURTS then don't of course

You need recorvery period for muscles to rebuild, basically what you're feeling.

This is why programs like PPL or targetting a specific spot on different days are popular because you work on a different set of muscles every day, giving previous sets a chance to rebuild and recover.

I just take BCAAs and try and get plenty of rest. I know it's anecdotal, but my DOMS lasted about half as long once I started taking BCAAs

Check your nutrition using cronometer. If you're low in any micronutrients try getting more of those in your diet because you never know what might get in the way of your recovery. I always had issues with recovery, but when I started looking at my micros instead of just my macros my recovery issues went away within about a month. Also, antioxidents from whole foods help people revover quicker (antioxident supplements don't seem to have the benefits of antioxidents from food in most instances, and I don't know if antioxident supps have ever been tested for workout recovery like antioxidents from food have).

BCAA is a meme and do fuck all for you, this has been proven by numerous studies, if your diet has egg yolk in it, you get all your BCAA you need and drinking extra BCAA will not do a single thing regarding recovery

Soreness, a.k.a DOMS is jsut a feeling that lets you know your muscles haven't been used effectively in a long while.

You can still work out even when sore. In fact, as you workout the soreness will go away a few sets in.

If its muscle soreness it might be an issue with recovery, make sure your nutrition and sleep are on point. If its in your tendons and ligaments you might be overdoing it or using poor form, make sure that is not the case. If you are a beginner you will probably be sore after everything workout for a while, in that case don’t worry about it too much
