I'm not a consolefaggot.
Never played it

Neither am I. Are you unaware that it was released on PC?
The PC port is panned for being terrible.
Best GTA game. I've played it several times and I always have fun. Everything before that is kinda meh. I mean, San Andreas is pretty good. And while its not a true GTA game, Bully is a fantastic game. GTA 5 is just really underwhelming, and has awful driving, and police AI that makes no sense. But 4, is the sweet spot for me.
I didn't like it. Every missions was basically, go to X location and kill Y. GTA V has fun missions like robbing the jewelry store, pulling down that hill mansion with the tennis coach, Trevor, and so on. It was a real GTA game. 4 just felt like it was shit. San Andreas was better imo.
tried to play it seriously once. The driving controls sucked.
Played it before that with friends and cheats trying to survive 5 star wanted level. that was fun.
Have you ever played it? I never drop below 40 fps and most of the time it hovers around 60. Everything is maxed out other than view distance, which is set to 80.
Worst in the series desu.
Not gonna buy your shit product. Stop shilling.
its fucking good , better than V cuz it has that "disgusting" , "real" , "dark" vibe
>The driving controls sucked.
You only say that because you were bad at it.
GTA 5 missions are
>press button to watch cutscene
>switch to other character at this exact moment every time
Also, lots of the missions are ridiculous saints row tier shenanigans.
>I never drop below 40 fps and most of the time it hovers around 60
>in a 10 year old game
This. GTA 4 was a game about crime. GTA 5 was a glitzy Hollywood movie about bankrobbers who look for nukes at the bottom of the ocean.
The characters in 5 are the most one dimensional the series has ever seen. Michael's gimmick is he's "too old for this shit", Trevor's is "lol I'm so random and insane!" and Franklin's is being black. That's literally all there is to them. I'm not going to act like Niko Bellic is some masterfully written character, but at least there was more to him than could be described in one sentence.
This, GTA 4 had the right amount of realism and parody. 5 felt like it was trying to go so far in the other direction. If I want silly bullshit, I could play Saints Row. Damn, OP is making me want to boot up GTA 4 now.
The PC port sucks but the game is fun. Wasn't as magical as GTA3 when that first came out, though. Holy shit, driving around Liberty City listening to Lips 106 on a PS2 was amazing. Getting so immersed you thought the in-game time was what time it was IRL. Cool little things like doors staying open if you ran away from the car while getting out and stuff. It was incredible.
Also the reason why I preferred GTA 3 over VC in terms of plot and atmosphere
It was some fine neo noir shit
I felt GTAIV was too realistic
>HEY COUSIN LETS GO BOWLING
That got annoying quick
Luckily you can put your phone into sleep mode and he won't call you, if the added world building bothers you that much.
weapon customization isn't that important, but I don't mind it. Car customization is pretty cool, though. I don't see a problem with adding more things to spend money on. In 4 it always seemed like I made money for no reason. I had so much I didn't know what to do with it. It would've been more realistic if the game subtracted money from your total everyday for living expenses, since a big part of the story is how Niko and Roman can't afford shit. I like roleplaying games so I also wouldn't mind being forced to eat at certain intervals. But I know GTA isn't that sort of game.
>But I know GTA isn't that sort of game.
I wish it was, with Dirt 3 tier driving physics. My dream game will never happen, not in a million years. Mafia 2 is the closest I'll ever get to play.
basically this (), but you can also just hang up on him. But I liked hanging out with each friend just to get the extra dialogue. Once all the dialogue was exhausted I didn't do it anymore.
I wish it was too, but at least you can just pretend you have to do it. That's what roleplaying is after all. I would regularly eat and sleep in GTA 4, and do playthroughs where I go out of my way to drive normally and refrain from killing pedestrians. Its actually much harder than you think, because Rockstar assumes you'll drive like a maniac, so you'll find AI cars freaking out at you for following the rules of the road. They crash into you and honk endlessly.
>he didn't like bowling/playing billiards/eating/drinking with Roman
Am I really the only one who actually liked him?
An actual crime game, where it isn't the rags to riches story of almost every GTA and you do things actual criminals do. Sell heroin and see it's effects on the community, steal cars/things out of cars to sell, mug people. A true low life simulator.
no, that was great. Roman was a really fun character, and he made Niko feel like a real person, instead of just some generic maniac. In fact, all of Niko's friends and girlfriends really fleshed out his character.
You all spared Dwayne, right?
I would love to see something like that. A realistic, single-player crime simulation RPG would be based. I don't know what company would do it justice, though.
Yeah, in all my playthroughs except one. the 10k wasn't worth my regret. I feel bad for him, a nigga can't even read.
>10k for killing Playboy's former mentor and friend
>Playboy BLAMES YOU and refuses to talk to you afterwards, calls you "cold"
What a piece of shit.
Yeah that upset me. I wish Rockstar had made Playboy X an actual friend you could hang out with, but maybe what they did fits his shit personality better.
Every time I tried to play it, it was pretty boring
I'm going to take a wild guess and say you probably also think STALKER is boring.
>Now that it's been over 10 years
Jesus.
It was definitely fun. But everytime I want to play it again I remember how terribly optimized it is and dont bother. Are there any fixes 10 years later?
>Are there any fixes 10 years later?
You could try playing on hardware that isn't 15 years old.
My favorite GTA, I even liked the driving.
I loved the serious tone of the story, compared to the other games.
I would gladly play a remake done with GTA V's engine.
GTA 4 runs more consistently on a PC that came out in 2005 than one that did in 2015.
I still like GTA IV's campaign over V. even the soundtrack is better.
All I want is some damn RP odd jobs. What is rockstar doing? Am I the only one who found those fun?
San andreas: taxi, paramedic, cop, firefighter, valet, pimp, trucker, burgler, construction, courier
IV: cop, assassin
V: shitty taxi jobs, thats it
>assassin
Huh? Also you could do taxi for Roman and deliver drugs for that other dude.
Btw, GTAIV police missions were the best, I just wish you actually received money other than what you mugged from the people you killed
assassin... when you would go to a pay phone then get a target.
its more realistic and more refined that gta 5
>didn't remember those
>googled it
>found pic related
kek
>those jaggies
I stopped giving a fuck about the writing when Niko decided to kill Vlad just because of some thot. I liked the city and driving I guess.
It was for his cousin's honor, not for Mallory herself. You don't fuck with Niko's family
The same thing I've always thought of it. It was alright. GTA V is superior both modded and unmodded, however Kikestar makes the multiplayer experience pure dogshit and I will never support them again. I still hate GTA IV's shitty driving physics and extremely slow cars, though the vehicle damage was superior - I don't know why they toned down the damage physics in V. Driving is way more fun in V although a little too arcade, once again, significantly better with mods, as well as having more fun roads to drive on.
Never really played IV online much, but to my understanding modders are separated from the basic bitches but are still able to play, so that's much better than the shit they pulled with V.
He killed Vlad because he didn't like seeing Roman walked all over.
>extremely slow cars
???
Yeah, a four door sedan isn't going to be as fast as a Turismo or Comet.
Best game I have ever played. I have great memories from middle school
They can be - but as far as the game goes... user, you can't seriously think the acceleration of the cars in that game is realistic. And yes, even the sports cars in IV perform painfully poorly. There is zero sense of speed in that game, every car accelerates pathetically and rolls like a fucking boat about to capsize. It's ridiculous. 1950s horsepower paired with 1980s landyacht suspension. It's the only thing I hate about IV.
Boring
The last one I enjoyed was SA
GTA IV was a pleasant little tech demo that filled the gap between San Andreas and V and proved the value of the RAGE engine. I was impressed by the graphics at the time (even bought a new gaming PC to run it at high settings), but gameplay-wise it wasn't that good (the lack of features compared to San Andreas was disappointing, as was the poor quality of the PC port).
Yeah, but not for Dwayne. By killing Playboy X, you got the best safehouse in the game, the fancy ass penthouse with the roof garden.
>I don't know why they toned down the damage physics in V
Two reasons:
1. Most players can't drive for shit. The damage physics in IV were far too punitive on pleb players. The bumpercar experience in V is more casual-friendly.
2. GTA Online needs to sync damage that all cars in the server have, so dynamic functional damage like in IV would have proven too much of a strain on the lousy peer-to-peer connections in Online.
Gotta agree with you on this. I drive long distances in real life from time to time, and GTA IV was overkill on the "we want realism" thing. Real cars aren't that slow, and real cars turn a lot easier than that.
This is a big reason why I enjoyed it (Lost and Damned did that well too). Nico may get shit, but I liked him as a character for the story, and graphics-wise, it was a huge jump in the series
Bought it on steam and can't even run it. Something to do with windows live games and rockstar social club bullshit locked me out of it.
>Franklin's is being black
kekd and checked
It's true, though.
I still enjoyed V in terms of gameplay, but definitely prefer IV
Anyone know if GTA IV will be getting a remaster like the others?
Fuck, I hope not. They'll give it GTA 5's damage model and car handling.
Niko was a seriously underdeveloped character with a lot of potential, which is a shame.
They could have used certain flashback sequences to reveal more about his past, but instead his past is just an artificial thread that weaves through the random shit that happens during the story.
I can't be the only person that loved the driving physics in GTA 4? It made the vehicle chases actually tense, exhilarating and challenging. In GTA 5 the driving physics are easy mode dumbed down garbage which trivialises that entire aspect of the gameplay. I mean you can even turn your car in mid air and roll it over if it ends upside down. It's so fucking stupid.
You're not the only one, I also liked the challenge. In multiplayer especially the people who were good at driving were REALLY good, not because they bought better upgrades as LS customs but because they practiced.
the best gta. also i played with saturation set to minimum for maximum depression
I thought it was fun but probably the worst 3d GTA besides 3(if you aren't giving it extra points for it being the first of it's kind. Not a bad game by any means.
>flashback sequences
That would completely ruin the flow of the game. His past is not "artificial", whatever the fuck that means. Its revealed just like anyone reveals their past, through short bits of story. That's literally how writing works, you can't just have him dump a summary of his past in the middle of the game.
>also i played with saturation set to minimum for maximum depression
I must try this.
I just realized I can probably play it on my macbook pro.
I didn't play much of the singleplayer but I spent a whole lot of hours in multiplayer with my xbox friends. Some of the funniest nights ever on that game. We would stay up all night and just fuck around in free mode. I miss it.
I still play this from time to time. Never gets boring. The only thing I don't really like is the driving mechanics but the rest of the game is excellent.
This isn't /v/ , so i think you're a bit lost buddy
As small a change as this is, it does kind of add to the atmosphere. I wonder if there's an easy way to get the game running in just black and white?
Jow Forums has no topic, faggot. This isn't the >tfw no gf board
>robbing the jewelry store
Going to points in the store, press some buttons and then escape
>pulling down that hill mansion with the tennis coach
Going foward with a car? Yeah that was really fun
>Going to points in the store, press some buttons and then escape
Exactly this. It's the Call of Duty of Grand Theft Auto "press X to advance the story"/
it still holds up but seriously San adreas is the champ among gta games and even more so on pc with all the mods..the cheat codes are insane..i love entering the city in chaos cheat code and seeing the most random shit ever..once saw a fire fighter beat the shit out of an old lady also had a mod that added animals and he kicked the shit out of a dog before running it over in his fire truck then proceeded to crash it into a train exploding to death..great times
>liking a game for all the RANDOM things you can do with the cheat codes xD
I wonder how many of you have 100% completed SA without using any cheats, if it would still be your favorite in the series.
>EL DIABLO
so does he'll still have x box live
I actually modded the map, turning San Fierro into my personal kingdom.
GTA IV was kinda cool but not great and definitely not the best in the series. Loved by underageb& due to that one video. Kind of a FC2 thing, but far cry was better.
>due to that one video
What video?
Based and Schweinpilled.
