Skill doesn't mean you'll get enough viewers to live off of. Dizzy is an example of this, he's not bad, but I personally know people who stream and are 10x better than him in almost every way, better personality, better aim, better game sense due to extensive experience in other games competitively. Streaming as a career comes down to luck.

I've considered, if only because I think exposing myself to interacting with others might help my social anxiety. I also suck at videogames even though it's pretty much all I do.

It is a serious mistake to turn your hobby into a job. You will do it so much that you become numb to the enjoyment. You will lose passion in all things related to it. Don't make it your career.

I'd need a better internet connection, actual skill at games that people watch and probably a fair bit of time to eventually catch a break though.

I've actually gotten back into streaming, lately. I used to run an old streaming channel that kinda blew up but was way too much stress because in my opinion I operated it a lot like a narcissist.

But now I've started a really small-time stream channel for robots and anons who are just like me that really don't seem to have all the things we're supposed to have. Like jobs, a car, degrees, or even friends. My lifestyle is very sad and this is the only way I can connect with other people and I thought maybe some day my channel can get big enough that it can be a connecting point for other people like me and maybe I could be responsible for helping people who are just like me.

It's really small and lately our viewer turnout has been really low, only 7 people max, but I try not to let that get me down because this time I insist on having quality over quantity.

I try to do things different than other streamers, after-all I consider my stream more of a talk show than a stream. I don't play ordinary video games, I do things I think my sad robot friends would smile at seeing. There was a point where we did really bad prank calls that were interactive for the anons. I made a madlibs that I'd repeat on call, and the anons in the chat would just fill in the blanks for me. I made questions for them to make it easy and showed them the result afterwords.

Then on our comfy days when I'm sad and depressed, I test drive short indie games created by sorry-ass developers. A lot of them are really nice and comfy walking simulators with really nice twists, and a lot of them are funny or spooky. I usually don't show one small-dev indie game for longer than one stream. I download multiples upon multiples just to keep anons interested. None of us care about gameplay, we just wanna see something amusing and it's interesting to test drive user-developed games.

Then we have interactive game nights, where we play cards against humanity or scribblio on-stream.

They can just watch the humor take place, it'd be nice to have everybody feel like they are involved in the way they feel most comfortable.

We also have been playing RISK lately, that old game on /b/ and Jow Forums where you make up nations called nigward or jews or whatever and then you roll to invade other nations? We play that on stream, people in my twitch chat do !roll and they battle it out. I've even developed a points system with bots so that users can fight each other in chat if they've watched enough streams and built up enough points. They can silence another user from chat for a few minutes, which is extremely useful during RISK games which can sometimes feel difficult for people who have never played it before..

Of course the system stopped working recently, but I've joined the streamjar discord and i'm working with the developer to fix my problem and bring back user battles with their points. The system is really great, every follower gets 100-200 points and it takes 3 'warnings' to silence a user. So you can stack up points and target an user or other anons can form an alliance and such. Still thinking of game ideas that can be really interactive with the chat. Nobody can be silenced for too long, though. And un-warning a user is only 50 points so it's all in good fun.

I'm doing it for my benefit, trying to hopefully get people to support the stream but I really enjoy the company I have in-stream. I mean just today I've woken up in a panic from a really bad dream. It hurts sometimes to be so isolated, so this is us trying to come together as robots and anons to improve ourselves.

I don't have the motivation to play videogames myself, much less do it on camera while faking enthusiasm for a bunch of kids. At least at my wageslave station I get to be left alone for the majority of the day.

There are more successful musicians, movie actors, fuck probably even writers then there are successful streamers. Also, unlike these creative jobs, streaming isn't unlike actual wagecucking. I would really enjoy being an educational streamer/youtuber, my ideal would be engine tuning because I know a bit about it and I don't feel like there are many free resources online that teach you how to do it from the start. Problem is right now I live in an apartment in the city so I can't work on cars at all or pay for an extra spot to park a fun/project car.

true. there's a bunch of pro-level FPS players streaming on twitch that barely get any views. clawz for instance, he was the best Quake player at one point and may well become rapha's successor in the future, but because the game has a small audience so do the streams. rapha does okay, clawz gets barely any viewers.

Even more likable pro-level FPS players from more popular games with better stream contednt, like pasha of cs, get relatively few viewers.

nah, he's great at the game. these days he would probably be in the top 10 even if he only aimed as well as the other pros. besides, what do casual viewers no about any skill other than aim? aim is the main attraction, see shroud's success.

the personality thing is accurate, he's shy and rarely talks on stream and when he does it's russian. if someone could make him use a face cam and talk english I think he could go far. he's even playing Apex now and wrecking has hard as shroud, but his lack of friend simulator service makes his work futile. it's frustrating to witness.

A good way to get used to speaking to viewers is to pretend you're talking to a chat of 100 viewers. Referring to chat and saying things like "what do you think, chat?" gets you used to including them in conversations, and doesn't make you just another silent faggot that whines about the game every hour or so.
