i leave my job at 6 pm and he told me to stay there for 15 more minutes.
i stayed there and i left so angry that i said loudly to my co-worker, YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES YOU KINDA UNDERSTAND THOSE PEOPLE WHO GO POSTAL AND STARTS KILLING EVERYONE.
man, i said that on the heat of the moment y'know, but if she snitches me to the manager, i'll probably be fired tomorrow.

OP here, I worked a 12pm to 6pm shift and the manager asked me to stay 2 more hrs. 15mins are fucking nothing my dude. Unless you started at 6am.

that shit almost happened today. Had to make a delivery through town 40 minutes before weclock out and it was in the midle of rush hour. I got back exactly when everyone was clocking out.

the reason i got so angry is because they don't pay for overtime. basically working for free

I've been at work for a 39 hour stretch before, but it would be worse to have to stay for some bullshit like ten minutes when you thought you were going home. I would fucking bounce.

same dude, I work 12pm-8pm on mon, wen and fri. 12pm-6pm on tue and thu. Today was thu and I had to work 2 hrs extra with normal pay.

One time, back when I worked retail. I had someone do this to me.

The trick is to tell the customer that the store is closing really soon and you cant wait around for them.

I hate being alive. My mom graduated college in the 80s with a history degree and worked as a COBOL programmer with 0 experience. Dad never even went to college, just started working at equivelant 40k + retirement + job security (union) + benefits.

Fuck all of this. Fuck it. FUck corporate culture, fuck the economy, fuck boomers. I'm gonna do everything I can to ruin their present. All I'm asking for is sympathy but no, none of that for my 60 hour work-weeks. I'm just lazy and entitled. Gonna live at home forever just to spite these fat fucking boomers.

I work an office job for a huge corporation. I like it, the pay is fair and the benefits are pretty good but they still do some shitty stuff. It's pretty much impossible to advance internally unless you go from regular wagie to management. They'll give 2-3% raises for inflation each year but if you ever want to get a big raise you have to be promoted to management or get another job.

What really pisses me off about that is they have no problem paying more to hire externally. They'll hire someone for my same position in the same city with comparable experience/qualifications and start them out at 10-15% higher than I make because "that's just the cost of acquiring talent" but if you ask for a raise that big the answer is always some HR bullshit about how it's against policy to grant big raises unless your title is changing significantly. Reward the new hires and give crumbs to the employees who have proven themselves to be valuable. Of course, all the manager positions belong to boomers who have been there forever and refuse to retire so good luck getting a promotion to management, and naturally most of them don't have college degrees but they won't even take a second look at your resume if you don't have a degree. Then the boomer managers have the nerve to whine about how much employee turnover they have after 2-3 years. I don't want to change companies but it's looking like I'll have to if I ever want a raise that outpaces inflation.

And it's only going to get originally worse

That reminds me of one more thing I forgot to bitch about. Most of the boomers are vested in the company's pension plan, which has since been phased out (the boomers are grandfathered in but nobody else can join). That means when they retire the company will be paying for it, which is taking money out of the benefits/compensation provided for younger workers. We still get a 6% 401k match, but that's nothing compared to a company pension. Can't wait to get fucked in both the private sector and the public sector (higher taxes to fund Medicare/Social Security after boomers suck it dry) to pay for boomers to retire since they didn't save enough or have enough kids and apparently didn't steal enough wealth from younger generations so they have to shit on us one more time on their way out the door.
