There was a lot more crossover into the real world if you accidentally spun up the internet hate machine by not following the rules.

The edgelord kids were growing up, getting jobs, and had the resources to start doing cool interedasting stuff and sharing it with the community.

More folks seemed to have a better understanding that you can go see naked people on a thousand other sites, so there's no reason to bring that shit here unless it was exceptional in some way.

Back in 2008 when /fa/ was first created there were a bunch of transplant emo/scene kids from myspace who were just getting into Jow Forums. There was basically no moderation, no captcha, no time limit between posts. A group of people became really close and trolled that board a lot.
