Okay, look. Xena, Warrior Princess was not "girly." It was a quality program, in a time when quality wasn't as readily available as it is today. Nowadays you can find any of a number of fantasy adventures on Netflix and be taken away immediately to a faraway land. But back in the day there really wasn't a good fantasy show beyond Xena. And no, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was not good. It was shit. Xena, Warrior Princess was all you were really left with besides X-Files and Twin Peaks.

Growing up with anime, I was regularly entranced by Sakura's antics and beauty.
She left quite an impression on me back in the late 90s, and continues to do so with the release of the new Clear Card arc. The writing for each anime episode seems to be a failure on paper - Mindless chatting and Sakura doing meaningless every day things, but combine that with the warm characters and carefree BGM and you get quite a therapeutic experience - Like there's nothing in life but you and the girl on-screen living out her perfect life. Truly a 10/10 outlet for escapism.
