Is there anything more useless than the Num Lock key?

Is there anything more useless than the Num Lock key?

>never use number pad for anything other than numbers
>even when i went through windows settings and changed num lock to be automatically on, i still have to press it every time i turn on my computer before i can use the NUMBER pad for numbers

i am definitely more useless than a num lock key

>scroll lock
>prtscn/sysreq
>pause/break
>insert

WHAT DID YOU SAY YOU FUCKING DEGENERATE HERETIC!?!

yeah the pause break key. literally never used it.

>Is there anything more useless than the Num Lock key?

me

>the universally-understood keyboard layout that we all know how to use has pointless redundant keys that we don't use any more
how did this happen

i use it sometimes
if i'm scrolling with arrow keys sometimes the numpad is more comfortable also pgdn/pdup/home/end is more accessible

you could mess up touch typing if you change the layout too much.

numberrated

caps lock is for brainlets, why use it when you can hold shift

I believe you can do great things in life user, don't put yourself down.

Prtscn is good for screenshotting stuff tho

This. I've always used shift instead.

I've always wondered why there are two ctrl keys, usually you're not holding down more than two keys with one hand anyway

no one really does it, but in theory you could press the special keys with your right hand and type the keys with your left.

>he doesn't auto-run on a vanilla WoW server.
>he uses the number pad keys
>he doesn't realize his own self worth
>he doesn't get what said
>he thinks he's on plebbit
ayy
>he didn't read thread to see this joke was already done
based
How many fucking Boomers are on this board? Jesus Christ...

>he just figured out how to greentext

For ease of use
Ctrl+P Press the left ctrl key with your left hand and the P key with your right
Basically for either side if the keyboard is a ctrl or shift key you can use with your other hand for extra fast keyboarding.

this I use prtscreen quite a lot.

>Ctrl+P Press the left ctrl key with your left hand and the P key with your right
I do this but then also left thumb on ctrl and left index for c/v. I never use the right ctrl.

>tfw your computer has fn + prtsc as a shortcut to open snipping tool

I use it to switch between number input and mouse control with the numpad. It's useful for alching on runescape or other games where you want to click on a single spot without moving the mouse.
Pause/break and scroll lock are the two keys I've never used.

Windows shift s. Thank me later

spoilers:pause/break doesn't do anything

num lock is useful

I've been "num" since I was 11, how do I turn it off?

insert is actually useful if you're not retarded....

There's no off for that kind of "num".

if you use linux in a tty then while you hold the key down it prevents any more lines of a command from being output, scroll lock basically does the same thing too but it toggles it.

ahem, its gnu plus linux, buddy

well there are alternatives to GNU, and people sometimes use them. though i do just use GNU with linux.

An art degree.

There's a reason to why it's called the universally-understood keyboard layout
You can easily buy a smaller keyboard with less keys if you want to

I use all of these.

Shit, my laptop with no numerical keypad has a Fn+NumLock.

I wonder if it even does anything...

It actually is the default pause key in lots of video games.
Just happens that most people don't ever use it and simply open the menu with "Esc" as a way to pause.
