It's a really crusty and yeasty bread, which is pretty much exactly what I want. You do need a dutch oven, though.

You could try using a pot with a lid, as long as both are oven safe. You could just try out other methods, too, but I really like the thick crust a dutch oven imparts. I've heard putting a glass pan full of water on the bottom rack can mimic this effect, but I just use my dutch oven.

No problem. If you're interested in doing stuff in the kitchen, I'd reccomend making your own pickles or jellies also. That's a fun activity, and sealed jelly jars last pretty much forever as long as you canned them properly. If you like sour pickles, try a fermented variety, but if you just like regular pickles, a quick fridge pickle works too. There are plenty of veggies and fruits besides cucumbers that are good pickled as well. I have done squash, carrots, and corn. It's a good use for stuff that is about to go bad, or if you just buy too much of something.
