A card being legendary means you can only control one copy of it at a time. It is used to denote unique characters. Merida being a Human Archer seems pretty self-explanatory.

Green as a color is heavily associated with nature, forests, and the wilds in general. Red is associated with impulse, action and freedom. I figured with Merida being the bold and brash adventurer she is, the red/green would fit fairly well
>abilities
I decided to base her first ability off the plot of the movie Brave. Coming into the battlefield with her mother as a bear creature token seemed like something that would make her stand out a bit. Haste is an ability that allows a creature to tap (that arrow symbol on her card means tap) and attack on the same turn it enters the battlefield. Merida isn't one to sit around waiting, so it seemed fitting. Her last ability is reflective of her archery skills, and gives her more flexibility.
