The sheer volume of social media posts is so vast that you can come up with whole collages to support even pants-on-head retarded opinions of anything with entire collages. Turn off your sense of humor and assume everyone is a robot who writes only exactly what they believe, and the opinions you can find support become even more extreme. In Lovecraft's case? No way. His genius was literally hampered by his inability to write characters who weren't either blank slates or exactly like him. It's why Robert E. Howard, Clark Ashton Smith, and especially Fritz Liber managed to take his basic formula and make gold while Lovecraft himself could only ever manage silver at best. I respect the hell out of the man and everything he created but his life was a horrible one and his "unpopular" opinions and inability to keep them to himself almost destroyed his legacy completely.
