From a physical standpoint rape is comparable to assault, yes.

Logically, you can view it as the ability of a person to be a functioning member of society.
The law as we currently know it already differentiaties between sexual crimes as sexual assault and rape.

Sexual assault carries less of a sentence because while it's stressful for the victim, they can generally brush it off as an asshole being an asshole can move on.

Rape is worse because it completely ruins victims, causing them to be almost nonfunctional into society, they often turn to drugs, or just kill themselves. Rape victims see their attacker as an asshole as well, but they also view it as their attacker taking something from them.

So yea long story short rape needs to have a harsher sentence because much like murder, it takes a functioning member of society and turns them into a much less functional member. Assault doesn't do that.

Sex is often seen as one of (by some as THE ultimate) the ultimate types of pleasure. The issue with rape is that it takes a normally pleasurable, healthy, form of love and completely warps it. Sex can be seen as one of the ultimate gifts of trust between two individuals, in rape, this symbol of trust is tarnished and completely scarred by the encounter. Like I said earlier it practically has nothing to do with the actual physicality of the act, its the trauma of being completely reduced as an object, and having the most intimate thing you can offer, being forcefully taken from you, in the most demeaning way possible.

Maybe to put it in another light, if sex is just "a penis entering a vagina" then why do most of the people on this board feel that their lives are completely ruined without it. and this. I would have dozens of people i hate on hand 24/7 to scratch my balls for me whenever i want.
