That's bullshit. I don't like waving either, but if I run across 3-4 guys per hour in a massive park in the middle of nowhere, I'm gonna wave or say hi as an act of non-aggression.

On my first day this one cunt interrupted me mid-work, screamed at me for 5 minutes about how I know nothing and how I shouldn't ever dare question her because she's been working that job for x years. 5 minutes later she then goes off at me telling me I'm a know it all piece of shit and shouldn't even be in the internship. Was then told not to touch anything when she went on her lunch break, like a fucking child. Next few weeks was just random little acts of belittlement and humiliation. For the record I was acting like a perfectly reasonable human and took the abuse on the chin even though I secretly wanted to report her and then quit.

I remember there were study rooms in my university library that were only for groups because they had soundproofing. my study group would go to the library and if there was a single person using those rooms we would ask them to leave so we could use it and talk
we had a 100% success rate on asking men to leave and a 0% success rate on asking women to leave over about 3 years of doing it. they always refused. we would joke about it all the time. the girls in our study group would get pissed when we would bring it up but even they admitted it. This has never been my experience. I've lived in three different states (all in the south tho) and one of the few non-negative experiences I've had with women were from a distance like this. They will usually wave and smile when you're out running or walking your dog, along with other guys. Not everyone will initiate a smile and wave, but they will at least reciprocate if you put in the effort to be pleasant, at least for me.

It might also actually come down to attitude here, which is weird to think about. They're probably threatened or put off by you in some way.
