Narrow, as if you were in a position to jump. Where do you wanna train strength for: some weird wide stance with no carry over, or in a position where you get more than pushing bigger weight up?
Whatever lets you lift more weight
I've been trying to keep my knees out more to get more stretch out of hip abductors(?) but everything feels heavier than it does with my "wrong" squat
>t. Squatlet
I have really long legs and worked up to 85 kilos with narrow stance, than abandoned squatting in general, than relearned to squat with wider stance starting from 1pl8 and now I feel way more of actual stretch in the muscles. I don't go as wide as the dude in the op picture though.
narrow is the only stance I wont fall over
My stance is wide but definitely not as wide as that dude. I feel like I use more glutes when I squat wide
Narrow helps me not destroy my knees.
wide for maximum ACL gains
Why are you guys discussing this? I know you don't squat.
Started narrow and things were fine until the weight started to stack. then my knees were turning to shit. My form was shit so I had to relearn. I went a bit wider with my stance and even with my grip. I still need form work but my knees are tracking with my toes better and it's easier to keep the weight over my heels.
>that dude
user...
I usually have it somewhat wide and keep my feet parallel. When you're narrow it's fine until you start lifting heavy. All of a sudden your feet will start turning outwards and your heels will come off the ground if you're not wide enough
Whichever feels most comfortable for you. You have your own hip morphology and that determines how you should squat.

Yeah obviously he will squat less with a narrow stance, but unless you're a powershitter he is absolutely correct.
Very good point my man. Have a nice weekend.
Squatting for carry over to jumping is retarded on the face of it, one is explosive the other isn't
Youre telling me there isn't any carry over to jumping from squatting? Guess you're implying squatting won't make you run faster either... Are you retarded?
i use the leg press machine and my legs are bigger than the guys in the picture LOOOLLLLLLLLLLL
I squat in the optimal width for my physiology.
>lay on floor
>pull your legs towards your chest
>grab your knees
>move legs outward whilst seeing how close you can pull them to your upper body
>find the spot where you have the best ROM
>keep that width and sit up with it
>congratz you now have your squat width
kinda like pic related
According to the Vertical Jump Bible, increasing your squat increases the maximal amount of force you can put out, and doing plyometrics increases the percentage of that maximal force that you can recruit quickly, like in a jump or sprint. So a routine with squats and plyometrics will increase your vertical jump
>his squat isn't explosive
sorry user, ngmi
sniff
I don't squat. Only leg extensions, leg curls, calf raises and lunges
whatever makes the most sense for your limb length and hip insertions. try different things. whatever lets you hit depth (slightly below parallel) without compromising your back, while lifting the most weight, is the stance for you. I do a bit wider than average but toes forward instead of out personally
