Overweight redditor ran 5x5 for an entire year on a slow bulk: reddit.com/r/Stronglifts5x5/comments/bcqrzf/1_year_of_stronglifts_5x5_results/
Pic related, his OHP didn't progress at all in the last 3 months and it took him 4 months to go from 200lbs to 205lbs on bench.

5x5 SL lasts even less time than SS.
SS could last 3-6 months depending on a few factors

I pressed more than that after a couple months...

aren't you only supposed to do this for like 12 weeks or some shit

I'm doing deadlifts and OHP 4 to 5 days a week. First month, so far I'm at 75kg dl and 30kg OHP, let's see what happens in a year.

This, it's a three month program wtf

Jesus those comments. This is why reddit is the fucking worse. Celebrating next to zero progress in all that time.

Deadlift and squat see good progress to be fair but he plateaud half way in and kept going gaining next to nothing. What a retard.

Post tits

>I'm doing deadlifts and OHP 4 to 5 days a week
You'll burn out quickly

i don't understand how you can deadlift 345lb and only row 165lb

It has nothing to do with the program, it's just how weak and pussified redditors are
If I didn't get MOGGED by the anons who actually lift here each week I wouldn't increase shit either

Redditors are sticklers for form. Also he may be using his working weight rather than a 1rm which you can't really test in the row..

u do it as long as you are making progress. i had good gains for a year easy.

By good gains you mean an increase of weight every 48 hour or weekly?

>It has nothing to do with the program, it's just how weak and pussified redditors are
That is wrong. That just tells us how you dont know shit about programming.

yes, especially on squat and DL. bench was meh. i attribute that to my cycling background.

Alright bruh I'm currently doing a modified SL

Squat
OHP
Barbell rows
Deads
Bench

5x5 3x a week. Will I get better gains than the standard SL 5x5?

>he fell for the lift heavy to get big meme

i am not gonna help you

For a year, you increased the weight on your squat and diddly three times a week for 52 weeks?
Even with 2.5lbs increments you'd add 390lbs to each of those lifts

Nice guy

What is the ultimate (non sticky) beginner routine then

as far as i remember the program squat is increased 3x and dl is increased 1x per week

i ended SL with 160kg squat and 190kg dl you do the math how long i was on it.

Here you go homo
We will see, my lifts are pathetic so I don't think so, if people can work 12h a day for weeks I can dealift 4 to 5 times a week no?

I don’t understand the point of these programs. Why not just target specific areas instead of running the same lifts into the ground three times a week?

>i ended SL with 160kg squat and 190kg dl
Absolute madman, great work

No

>why train compound lifts for functional strength when you could do isolation for pure aesthetics
Some of us lift for more than just looks gayboy

Dude why do you shave ur chest

thanks. i had a home gym and no life. it was a simpler time.

Anybody got any advice on this?

come on unless you are a skelly you should be able to start dl higher

>squats 315 for reps after one year
sounds like he made great progress. what the fuck is wrong with you lads?

it is clear most of you don't fucking lift. if you do 315 squats for reps, that means your one rep max is probably near 360-370 lbs. after ONE YEAR. His bench 5x5 is over 200 lbs which means he is 1RMing about 240 lbs. Again, after one year of lifting only. The only thing that he seems to suck at is the overhead press and I bet that is due to technique. Don't even get started on the pendlay row as everyone does them differently, and many people who do rep work at >200lbs are in principle doing half a deadlift.

this is no gains, no point doing same shit 3 times a week what is basically a full body exercises, there will be no progress, one should split up compund movements, upper body this is bench plus shoulders, back day focusing on deadlifts and necessary accesory lifts, separate leg day, splitting shit up will get faster and bigger gains on every lift, squeeze in accesory work like arms and upper back and you're better off, can even do 3x8 or go heavy and do 3x6

Beginners

>it is clear most of you don't fucking lift
It is clear you are a weakling

Classic Jow Forums. I ask for advice on a 3x per week compound-focused strength program and you tell me to switch to bro splits. Disgusting

Guys what is the ultimate (non protein) muscle building food

you are still doing compund focused strenght program, but instead of doing all of the compounds in a single day, you can focus on one and put more work in it, and go heavier

>yeah bro I will be a benching three plates after a mere year of lifting if I follow a bro split hypertrophy program!!! fuck SS

Semen

Is brotein

My advice is not deadlifting 5x5. Warm up and then do your desired weight for 5 reps and thats it. Also I don't think you need deadlift and squat every workout. I would advise you to cycle those exercises and do each every other workout. And do the arm isolations (curls, pushdowns/any tricep iso) each workout and some facepulls so you don't get that bro-posture from too much pressing. And think about chinups, it might pay off greatly in biceps gains to do them, but also cycle them with rows, so you don't overtrain.

Yes, fuck you, I'm gonna become a 5%er
I only trim, never shave, that's for fags

The fuck are you talking about? Ripptits says no one should start dling higher than 60kg unless sport background or some shit. I was sedentary, didn't do anything besides sitting all day long at home and at work so yeah why should I be able to lift more than what I lift? I swear you retards give the worst advice and encouragement. Also 75kg after one month of lifting, I started at 60kg lmao1pl8. I don't wanna rush anything I have plenty of time in my life to slowly progress. Also dling every day has improved my form because I can practice a lot.

That is probably genetic desu. Consider how shit his upper body lifts are as a whole. I guarantee you he's donated to Elizabeth Warren's campaign or something of that sort as well.

holy shit. SL/SS is a beginner program. for people that never touched a barbell in their life. and you are asking them to do other shit that will only confuse people.

Thanks for the advice man

I've been doing SL for over a year, was planning to stick with it until I can get to 1/2/3/4. Is that dumb?

>tfw I have all his stats after 8 months (except I do cleans instead of rows) but my bench is still only 160

Instead of deloading you should reduce sets and once you finally stall at 1x5 you should switch to madcow.

>functional strength

Why? Reducing sets isn't going to help at all. People stall because the stress isn't enough to cause adaptation

It's either that or the weight is too much to recover from between sessions; chances are 1x5 would induce under-training while 5x5 would induce too much stress (not overtraining per se)
