Is this really the best deadlift alternative there is? Or am I missing out on something?
Is this really the best deadlift alternative there is? Or am I missing out on something?
you can always do those + romanian deadlifts
there's no reason to deadlift if you don't want to, only if you want to powerlift or something
olympic weightlifters do not deadlift for example and the chinese do a lot of those back extensions
Good mornings and RDLs
anyway just do deadlifts, if you're that fussed do them with a hex bar
>[American] olympic weightlifters do not deadlift for example
yeah, and that's why they suck
neither do the others
Hex bar get the most from squats and deadlifts
Hex bar + hip thrust + leg press (high volume) ss calf raise (in the leg press machine) would be an ideal leg day for me.
No Olympic weightlifters do deadlifts you tard. They are way too slow to have any carryover to the clean.
Clarence deadlifts once every two months or so, but of course he cleans your 1rm deadlift.
Jefferson deadlifts or hex bar deadlifts are a good alternative because they don't tend to fuck up your back like deadlifts do, but there is no alternative to picking up heavy shit off the floor. It strengthens you in a way that just isolating your lower back simply won't do.
Do you think the increased strength might have some "carryover to the clean"?
No. It does not. It's fucking useless.
this
at most you have snatch grip deadlifts helps with the first pull iirc
>NOOOO DONT DO DEADLIFTS NOO THEY WILL FUCK UP YOUR BACK P-PLEASE BE CAREF- NOOOO STOP ADDING WEIGHT ON THE BAR
Amazing.
If you want to do floor pulls and you do Oly, you do clean gripvhigh pulls. But thats max like 100-110% of your 1RM clean. At this weight, you can work on explosiveness still and get benefits helping your second pull. However, even a max high pull is way way below your 1RM deadlift.
Who am I kidding explaining this to you though. You dont even do Oly. You know dick and all about it. Youre just a faggot larper.
I don't do OLY either, but from what I understand about explosive strength it absolutely does increase with max strength. At which rate, I don't know. Definitely enough to make the heavy bench presser outdo a calistenics only guy with explosive pushups and stuff. Whether it's also enough to make deadlift training worth the time investment for professional oly lifters, idk, but it damn sure ain't useless and won't slow you down.
Deadlift doesn't have an alternative you pussy.
I add weight to my DL whenever I test it every two or so months. Thats about all I deadlift anymore. So you're right that there is carryover. But if you did nothing but DL, your clean will probably suck without proper programming on it.
However. From a programming perspective, you could be doing high pulls or half a dozen other clean accessory work over DLs and get way more benefit to your clean. In that sense, theyre useless. Why waste your time on them when you could be doing work that is more beneficial? Even if you wanted to argue to do them for posterior chain gains, most coaches will program RDLs and good mornings over DLs for that.
>RDLs
whats the point in olympic lifting for those? why not just do good mornings or back extensions
Why would an WLer spend time deadlifting instead of doing clean-pulls?
Hanstring and glute gains. Oly programming has lots of all three of the things you listed. My gym doesn't have a back extension thing though, so we can't do them. But its another popular accessory for posterior chain conditioning.
>Oly programming
and where do I find it? I can onyl see the american programming and they just stick to the main lifts and some variatiosn
I want to keep some pressing like bench and ohp, plus minor acessory work for upper body like dips and I've seen the russian and chinese do these
Back extensions
RDL's
Deficit DL's
Rack Pulls
Cant help you there. I go to a weightlifting gym where the coach there handles programming.
That being said, you can take those simple programs like you've found and just add that bench/ohp/dips/etc accessory work twice or three times a week at the end of the main oly workout.
This is more of a tool than an alternative.
I'd say a true alternative that will be easy on you would be stiff leg or romanian with dumbbells since you build similar functional strength but with far better ergonomics.
Because deadlifts will make him stronger.
>every gym has 45 deg ROM machines
Why can't they be normal and buy the 90 deg ROM ones?
Hip thrusts
