Misc was honestly the best place on the internet from 2006-2012. I was in my teens back then and still had hopes and dreams and was still somewhat happy. Misc had so many funny trolls and every thread was legendary.

This place is honestly an unfunny cesspit of immaturity and negativity in comparison. Every thread is low effort bait and the atmosphere is negative thanks to reddit and r9k posters. I think what made misc great was how it was actually mostly normies, just normal guys hanging out laughing and lifting. Whereas Jow Forums is autists tearing each other down and not lifting.

You’re pretty much spot on. I joined 2010 and left probably 2014ish, definitely wouldn’t go back. Fitmisc was great a couple years ago but is basically non existent now.

I haven't been there in like a decade but it used to be like a Jow Forums /b/. You could say nigger, faggot, etc. Whatever you wanted.

Of course, this sissification and sterilization of the internet through the 2010s is pretty much a universal. There used to be so many message boards that no longer exist due to being too "toxic," loads of banned or prohibited words on the ones that still exist, exceedingly draconic rules that lead to instant bans, ever-tightening restrictions on content on places like Youtube, etc. I mean shit, back in the day even reddit had boards dedicated to posting racist memes and they were incredibly popular - like coontown. Those got nuked a long time ago. The internet is mostly a safe, sterile playground for normgroids now.
